Engineered quartz from India

Caesarstone® Quarz 2020 Cinder

Caesarstone® 2020 Cinder is a warm greige solid colour selection from the Israeli engineered quartz manufacturer Caesarstone, part of the Classico line. The polished slab shows a calm, slightly warm-toned light greige-grey base tone with only a very fine, even quartz mineral stippling – without veining, without clouds, without scatter. Stylistically an allusion to the calm, almost warm grey shade of glowing ash that has cooled (“cinder”). At ROSSITTIS we fabricate the large-format slabs into warm-toned kitchen worktops, washstands, wall claddings, interior stairs, window sills and made-to-measure interior components with a restrained, elegant architectural character.

Engineered quartz material from the Caesarstone Classico line (Caesarstone Ltd., Israel), based on high-purity natural quartz aggregates (≈ 90–93 % quartz, ≈ 7–10 % polyester resin) – not a naturally formed stone and not a marble imitation. Variant 2020 “Cinder” as a warm greige solid colour selection with a slightly warm-toned light greige-grey base tone, without veining or clouding.

About Caesarstone® Quarz 2020 Cinder

Background. Caesarstone was founded in 1987 at Kibbutz Sdot Yam in Israel and is regarded as one of the pioneers of industrial engineered quartz slab production. The company produces its slabs in the Bretonstone® vacuum vibration compaction process and has for decades been one of the globally leading brands in this material segment. The variant presented here, 2020 Cinder, comes from the brand's Classico line (2xxx coding), in which Caesarstone gathers its single-coloured, calm selections without veining or cloud pattern – the design counterpart to the marble-inspired 5 series slabs and the industrial 4 series Concrete slabs.

Finishes

Caesarstone® Quarz 2020 Cinder is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

A glossy surface with the highest possible degree of colour intensity — the standard finish in the engineered stone and engineered quartz segment. Easy to care for in everyday use and resistant to common household acids. A prestigious choice for kitchen worktops, wall claddings and exposed surfaces with a classic high-gloss character.

Honed C400

A level, matt surface created by fine honing with C400 grit — it appears more restrained than the more colour-intense polished version and is somewhat more maintenance-intensive. A characterful matt alternative for modern kitchen islands and wall claddings where high gloss would be out of place.

Care & fabrication

Cleaning. In everyday use, warm water, a soft cloth or a clean mop and a neutral to slightly alkaline pH cleaner are sufficient. Soapy engineered stone cleaners, mild all-purpose cleaners, mild washing-up foam and special engineered quartz care products are suitable. Caesarstone recommends its own care products (Caesarstone Cleaner) – these are not essential, but well matched. Take up spilt liquids – wine, coffee, juices, oil – promptly in everyday use.

Do not use. Concentrated acids (sulphuric, hydrochloric, nitric acid), concrete and rust removers, paint strippers, oven cleaners, acetone, petrol, thinners, nitro cleaners and very strongly alkaline industrial cleaners are off limits – they can attack the polyester resin. Also avoid chlorine-based bleaches in high concentration. Do without abrasive pads (steel wool, green scouring pads); scratching is undesirable on the polished surface.

Impregnation. A classic natural stone impregnation is not necessary – engineered quartz is inherently dense and non-porous, and water absorption is below 0.05 %. A sealant would tend to show on the surface as a veil.

Kitchen. 2020 Cinder is a classic kitchen material. Despite its high material hardness and acid resistance, the following applies: use chopping boards (knife marks can leave the polyester resin matt over time) and use trivets for hot pots and pans – direct heat over points can cause local discolouration. Direct contact with a hot baking tray (above about 150 °C) risks stress cracks. On site, the dishwasher must not run in full contact directly beneath the slab – heat protection is standard practice. On the warm greige slab, dark stains (red wine, coffee, berry juice) are visually far less conspicuous than on a solid white slab; even so, the material is no invitation to leave them standing.

Bathroom. In the bathroom, Cinder is very well suited as a washstand, wall cladding, bath surround and shower. Do not use anti-limescale sprays and limescale-dissolving bathroom cleaners in high concentration, and wipe standing water away promptly in the shower area so that a limescale film cannot build up.

Floors and stairs. The surface finishes available in stock are listed in the »Finishes« block further down. Dirt-trapping mats at the entrance reduce the ingress of scratching particles.

Outdoors and frost. Not suitable for external construction. Polyester binder yellows under UV radiation, and freeze-thaw cycles can lead to micro defects. Nor is it recommended for permanent use in fully sunlit conservatories or open loggias – Caesarstone explicitly excludes external use and fully sunlit interior surfaces from the warranty.

Warranty and repair. In the residential sector Caesarstone grants a lifetime warranty against material and manufacturing defects (“Caesarstone Forever”), subject to fabrication and care to standard by certified specialist firms. The surface finishes available in stock are listed in the »Finishes« block further down.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of material is Caesarstone® 2020 Cinder?

It is an engineered quartz stone from the Israeli manufacturer Caesarstone, part of the Classico line. High-purity natural quartz aggregates (around 90–93 % by volume) are compacted into large-format slabs with about 7–10 % polyester resin, pigments and additives in the Bretonstone® vacuum process. 2020 Cinder is a warm greige solid colour selection.

Does 2020 Cinder have veining or a cloud pattern?

No. Cinder is deliberately conceived as a solid colour slab – without veining, without clouds, without veils. From a medium distance the surface appears uniformly warm greige throughout; at close range only a very fine quartz mineral stippling becomes visible.

How is the appearance of Cinder to be characterised?

A light, slightly warm-toned greige-grey – neither clinically cool nor pronouncedly warm beige, but a balanced greige tone with a subtle warmth. Stylistically an allusion to the shade of glowing ash that has cooled (“cinder”).

What is Cinder good for in design terms?

For reduced, warm-toned interior concepts with a solid colour ambition. Cinder combines well with oak, walnut veneer, brushed steel, bronze, brass and mid-tone to light wall paints. Expressly not a marble or concrete imitation, but an independent neutral architectural slab.

Which slab formats and thicknesses does Caesarstone offer?

Standard format 306 × 144 cm and jumbo format 327 × 162 cm, in thicknesses of 2 and 3 cm. Individual lines are also available in a thinner thickness (1.2 cm and 0.6 cm “Slim”) for lightweight wall claddings and furniture fronts.

What does the Caesarstone Mineral line mean, and does it affect 2020 Cinder?

In spring 2024 Caesarstone introduced a new material generation with the “Mineral” line, in which a large proportion of the crystalline quartz has been replaced by other mineral aggregates – as a response to the international discourse on the risk of silicosis during fabrication. The selection documented here, 2020 Cinder, belongs to the classic quartz mixture; a Mineral variant can be checked on request, if available.

Which cleaners may I use?

Warm water, neutral to slightly alkaline stone care products, mild all-purpose cleaners and special Caesarstone care products are permitted. Concentrated acids, concrete and rust removers, paint strippers, oven cleaners and strong solvents such as acetone, petrol or thinners are off limits. Abrasive pads should be avoided.

What warranty does Caesarstone offer?

In the residential sector Caesarstone grants a lifetime warranty (“Caesarstone Forever”) against material and manufacturing defects, subject to fabrication and care to standard. The warranty is handled through authorised specialist firms; ROSSITTIS assists with the documentation. External surfaces and fully sunlit interior areas are expressly excluded.

What does Caesarstone® Quarz 2020 Cinder cost?

The price depends on the format, thickness, surface finish and fabrication — there is no serious flat rate per square metre. Business customers see prices once their B2B account is activated; private customers receive a complete quote through a fabricator near them.
