Background. Caesarstone was founded in 1987 at Kibbutz Sdot Yam in Israel and is regarded as one of the pioneers of industrial engineered quartz slab production. The company produces its slabs by the Bretonstone® vacuum vibro-compaction process and has for decades been among the globally leading brands in this material segment. The variant presented here, 4044 Airy Concrete, comes from the brand's Concrete series (4xxx coding), which is oriented in design terms towards raw, ground exposed-concrete and industrial-render impressions. Within it, Airy Concrete occupies the light, airy position — more characterful than the calm, creamy Cloudburst or Fresh Concrete variants, but lighter and friendlier than the powerful exposed-concrete variants 4033 Rugged Concrete and 712B Wet Concrete.
Material build-up. A classic Caesarstone quartz slab consists of around 90–93 % natural quartz (SiO₂), some 7–10 % polymer binder on a polyester resin base, plus pigments and mineral additives. Quartz has a Mohs hardness of 7 (compared with calcite marble at Mohs 3) — which makes engineered quartz slabs markedly more scratch-resistant, more acid-resistant and non-porous. In spring 2024, alongside the classic quartz line, Caesarstone launched the Mineral™ line, in which a large part of the crystalline quartz has been replaced by other mineral aggregates — this change is a direct response to the global discussion of silicosis risk during fabrication; the variant documented here, 4044 Airy Concrete, corresponds to the historical quartz mix.
The 4044 Airy Concrete variant. In design terms, Airy Concrete is one of the most expressive light variants in the Concrete series. The base tone is a light, slightly warm-toned mid-light grey — not clinically cool, not pronouncedly warm, but a balanced light grey shade with a subtle greige nuance. Distributed across the ground are pronounced soft cloud, wipe and glaze structures in lighter and darker greys, which give the effect of an airy, light exposed-concrete wall with a lively material history. Unlike the calmer Cloudburst variant (4011), Airy Concrete shows markedly more cloud character and mineral depth; against the dramatic variants 4033 Rugged Concrete and 712B Wet Concrete it remains lighter and friendlier. The name “Airy” refers to the airy, almost ethereal impression of the cloud structures.
Format and fabrication. Caesarstone supplies the slabs in the standard format 306 × 144 cm and in the jumbo format 327 × 162 cm, in thicknesses of 2 and 3 cm; individual lines also in 1.2 cm and 0.6 cm (Caesarstone Slim) for wall claddings and furniture fronts. The slabs can be cut, profiled, drilled and edge-worked with diamond tooling. Standard edges are square, chamfered (V-chamfer, 45°), rounded (R3, R5) and executed profile edges such as bullnose or a mitred edge joint for 90° corner connections. Thermal and chemical properties. Engineered quartz is markedly more acid-resistant than marble, because the quartz aggregates are themselves acid-inert and the polyester accounts for only a small proportion by volume. Even so: highly concentrated acids (hydrochloric, sulphuric, nitric acid) and aggressive industrial chemicals attack the binder. Heat tolerance extends to around 150 °C briefly; hot pots, frying pans or baking trays must never be set down directly on the surface, because direct heat at individual points can cause discolouration or stress cracks. UV resistance is limited — the slab is clearly conceived as an interior material and should not be permanently installed in fully sunlit conservatories or open loggias.
ROSSITTIS range. The finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block further down. From these we fabricate kitchen worktops (standard and island), vanity tops, wall claddings (including kitchen splashbacks and bathroom walls), bar counters, reception desks, buffet and furniture panels, internal stairs with treads and risers, and window sills. The airy light grey shade with its lively cloud structure comes into its own most strongly as an island or bar counter element; combined with light cabinet fronts, oak, brass, bronze and matt warm wall colours, a friendly, modern industrial picture emerges.
Comparison. Within the Concrete series, Airy Concrete sits as the light, characterful midpoint. In tonal value between 4011 Cloudburst (very light, calm) and 4030 Oyster (mid-grey neutral); more active in character than the calm variants, but less dramatic than 4033 Rugged Concrete. Stylistically related to 4001 Fresh Concrete ICON, but with markedly more visible cloud structures. Against real exposed concrete, the slab remains predictable, immediately ready to install and without any carbonation or drying phase. Against porcelain with a concrete decor (Laminam Calce), the slab remains warmer to the touch and less brittle.
Warranty and brand. Caesarstone offers the “Caesarstone Forever” lifetime warranty on its slabs in residential applications, with clearly defined care and fabrication conditions. The brand is established with architects, interior fit-out companies and premium kitchen studios across Europe.
Frank assessment. 4044 Airy Concrete is a choice for clients and architects looking for a light, characterful exposed-concrete impression with lively cloud and glaze structures, without switching to dramatically dark slabs. The slab works particularly well in light modern kitchens, in industrial-style schemes that want a friendly brightness, and in bathrooms with a contemporary architectural line. Anyone who prefers a more powerful exposed-concrete character with pronounced wipe marks is better served by 4033 Rugged Concrete.
