Engineered quartz materials (also known on the market as engineered quartz or quartz surfacing) consist of around 90 per cent natural quartz aggregates, bound by high-grade polymer resins and supplemented by pigments and design additions. Engineered quartz materials are technically considerably easier to care for than most natural stones: they are virtually free of pores and require no impregnation. Wine, coffee, oil, tomato sauce or other strongly colouring substances practically do not penetrate and can be wiped off without difficulty. Compared with natural marble of a similar appearance, Empira Black is more acid-resistant and more stain-resistant — a clear advantage in the everyday life of a heavily used kitchen worktop. The material is designed exclusively for interior use; UV radiation in direct sunlight can lead to colour changes over long periods, which is why exterior use is not recommended. Very high point heat (contact with a hot pan base straight out of the oven) should also be avoided — we recommend the consistent use of trivets or pot rests, since the polymer bond is sensitive to temperature.

A glossy surface with the highest possible degree of colour intensity — the standard finish in the engineered stone and engineered quartz segment. Easy to care for in everyday use and resistant to common household acids. A prestigious choice for kitchen worktops, wall claddings and exposed surfaces with a classic high-gloss character.
Care & fabrication
As an engineered quartz material, Caesarstone 5101 Empira Black is considerably easier to care for than a natural marble of similar appearance. An impregnation is not required — the material is virtually free of pores and absorbs practically no liquids. Ongoing cleaning is carried out with a mild, pH-neutral cleaner or a solution of warm water with a little washing-up liquid, applied with a soft microfibre cloth or sponge. Strongly colouring substances such as red wine, coffee, oil or tomato sauce should not draw in, but should nevertheless be taken up promptly so as not to load the polymer layers at the surface unnecessarily. Avoid aggressive solvents (acetone, thinners, stubborn paint strippers), strongly alkaline deep cleaners and abrasive steel wool — they can leave the polymer binder matt or damage it. Important: engineered quartz is sensitive to temperature. Do not set hot pots or pans straight from the oven or off the hob down on the slab without a trivet — point heat above roughly 150 °C can cause visible discolouration or cracks. Caesarstone 5101 Empira Black is designed exclusively for interior use; avoid direct UV sunlight over long periods, as it can age the polymer components.
