LAMINAM Calce Tortora is a large-format porcelain slab in a warm taupe grey with a calm lime-trowelled look. At ROSSITTIS it is used for kitchens, bathrooms, wall surfaces and reduced interior fit-outs wherever a matt, homely surface with very low water absorption is called for.
Calce Tortora lives not from veining but from calm. The tone moves between dove, warm grey and a slight greige, joined by a cloudy, chalky depth that recalls trowelled architectural surfaces rather than classic natural stone. That is precisely why the slab works so well in modern kitchens, bathrooms and living areas: it appears warm without turning yellowish, and matter-of-fact without looking cold.
Calce Tortora is manufactured in Italy as a porcelain, or porcelain slab. The material quotes the effect of lime trowelling and mineral plaster, but behaves clearly as a ceramic in everyday use. Acid sensitivity, open pores and restless block variation play hardly any role here. For planners this is an advantage above all on large surfaces, because a consistent image can be carried through more reliably than with open-pored limestone.
Technically the series is designed for dense surfaces suited to everyday use. Typical of porcelain are very low water absorption, high stain resistance and good temperature resistance. In practice this means: coffee, wine, grease or limescale are considerably less critical than with real limestone or fine marbles. For worktops, splashbacks, washstands and wall-mounted interior applications this is a strong profile.
The surface finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block further down. At ROSSITTIS, LAMINAM Calce Tortora is available as a large-format slab for kitchen worktops, splashbacks, washstands, wall claddings, furniture fronts and further made-to-measure interior applications.
The honest assessment: if you are looking for the geological depth and the patina of a real limestone, Calce Tortora will appear too controlled. If, on the other hand, you want a warm, matt and low-maintenance surface for clear architecture, the slab is very convincing.

Finishes
LAMINAM® Calce Tortora is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.
Naturale matt
Calce Tortora does not normally need to be sealed. pH-neutral cleaners, warm water and a soft cloth are sufficient for cleaning and care. Avoid strongly abrasive products on finished surfaces and, with large-format slabs, pay particular attention to edges and cut-outs. In the kitchen and bathroom, limescale, coffee and grease should be removed regularly so that the calm matt look stays clean.
Frequently asked questions
Is LAMINAM Calce Tortora suitable for the kitchen?
Yes. The very dense ceramic surface is well suited to worktops and splashbacks and reacts considerably more calmly to acid, grease and moisture than real limestone.
Which surfaces are available for Calce Tortora?
The surface finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.
Where does LAMINAM Calce Tortora come from?
The slab is manufactured in Italy as a porcelain. It is not a natural stone from a quarry, but a technically compacted surface material.
How do I clean LAMINAM Calce Tortora?
Neutral natural stone or porcelain stoneware cleaners, water and a soft cloth are sufficient for cleaning and care. Sealing is not normally necessary.
Is Calce Tortora an alternative to light limestone?
Yes, above all where a calmer appearance and less care effort matter more than geological individuality.
