Napoleon Rubanè is a French limestone with a characteristic banding in warm beige and cream tones. The undulating direction of movement gives the surface a decorative, almost textile effect that is used equally in classic and modern interior design.
Napoleon Rubanè comes from France and belongs to the group of banded limestones, which through their natural sedimentary layering form striking horizontal stripe patterns. The designation “Rubanè” – French for banded or provided with stripes – describes exactly what makes this stone so special: a clear direction of movement that produces a calm, rhythmic effect on large slab surfaces.
In colour, Napoleon Rubanè moves in the spectrum from a pale beige through a warm cream to golden brown stripes. The tonality is warm and Mediterranean at the same time, which makes the stone a preferred material for demanding interiors – from classic villas to contemporary hotel architecture.
The surface finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block further down. In the planning it should be borne in mind that limestones react sensitively to strong acids, which is why an impregnation and acid-free cleaning agents are recommended.
At ROSSITTIS, Napoleon Rubanè is available as a raw slab, in tiles, as a window sill, stair covering, skirting and cut to size. The stone is particularly suited to prestigious wall claddings, floors and bathrooms in which the banded pattern unfolds its maximum effect.

Napoleon Rubanè is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.
Polished
Polishing is the most classic finish for marble and limestone — a glossy surface with the highest possible colour intensity and a pronounced depth to the veining. Depending on the mineral composition, the effect can be matte-gloss in places. Acid-sensitive — wine, lemon and vinegar leave etch marks after prolonged contact.
Care & fabrication
You should impregnate Napoleon Rubanè and care for it regularly with a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner. Limestone reacts sensitively to acidic substances such as lemon juice, vinegar, wine or descaler – take up such liquids immediately, do not let them act. For daily cleaning, a soft microfibre cloth, clean water and a suitable stone care product are enough.
Frequently asked questions
What does “Rubanè” mean in Napoleon Rubanè?
“Rubanè” is a French term and means banded or striped. It describes the natural sedimentary layering of the stone, which shows itself as a decorative banding in the surface.
Where does Napoleon Rubanè come from?
Napoleon Rubanè is a natural stone from France.
Is Napoleon Rubanè suitable for exterior areas?
Frost resistance depends on the specific block batch and the fabric. For exterior applications the suitability should be checked on a project basis; indoors, Napoleon Rubanè is the safe choice.
How do I care for Napoleon Rubanè?
Impregnation after laying, regular cleaning with a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner, no acidic agents. Take up stains immediately.
Napoleon Rubanè or marble – which is more robust?
Both are calcareous rocks with a similar sensitivity to acids. Because of its structure, Napoleon Rubanè often has a somewhat more rustic character than a fine-crystalline marble, but is no less in need of care.
What does Napoleon Rubanè cost?
The price depends on the batch, thickness, surface finish and fabrication — with natural stone there is no serious flat rate per square metre. Business customers see prices once their B2B account is activated; private customers receive a complete quote through a fabricator near them.
