The DIN and EN standards that matter when planning and specifying natural stone projects.

| DIN EN 12057 | Natural stone products — Modular tiles — Requirements | Dimensional requirements for calibrated tiles in standard formats. |
| DIN EN 1341 | Slabs of natural stone for external paving — Requirements and test methods | Requirements for frost resistance, flexural strength and slip resistance outdoors. |
| DIN 51130 / DIN EN 16165 | Determination of slip resistance of pedestrian surfaces — Methods of evaluation (R ratings) | R9 (low) to R13 (very high). At least R11 for commercial kitchens, R12 for large-scale catering kitchens. DIN 51130 has been superseded by EN 16165:2021, published in Germany as DIN EN 16165:2023; the R classification remains in place. |
| DIN EN 12371 | Natural stone test methods — Determination of frost resistance | Test method for freeze-thaw resistance. Relevant wherever freeze-thaw exposure has to be assessed or declared; whether testing is required follows from the product standard and the specification. |
| DIN EN 13755 | Natural stone test methods — Determination of water absorption at atmospheric pressure | Low water absorption is an indicator of lower susceptibility to staining and often of better freeze-thaw behaviour — but it does not replace the frost resistance test to EN 12371. |
| DIN EN 1926 | Natural stone test methods — Determination of uniaxial compressive strength | Relevant for load-bearing elements, facade anchoring and heavily loaded floors. |
| DIN EN 1936 | Natural stone test methods — Determination of real density and apparent density, and of total and open porosity | Determines material density and open porosity — important for structural calculations and transport planning. |
