Beige Marfil Agglo IT is an Italian-produced agglomerated marble with a warm cream-beige base tone echoing the Spanish Crema Marfil marble family. The polished slab shows a calm, evenly continuous warm beige tone with the finest, evenly distributed mineral speckling – without pronounced veins or clouds. At ROSSITTIS we fabricate the slabs into internal floor coverings, stairs, window sills, wall cladding, vanity units and made-to-measure internal components with a warm Mediterranean marble character.

Background. “Beige Marfil Agglo IT” designates an industrially manufactured agglomerated marble of Italian production (the abbreviation “IT” stands for the Italian origin) in a warm cream-beige tone, which in design terms echoes the world-famous Crema Marfil marble family from the Spanish province of Alicante. Italy has for decades been the centre of industrial agglomerated marble production, with manufacturers such as Quarella, Santamargherita, Industria Marmi Alberti, Civet/CTX and further specialised large plants in the Italian marble and ceramics district. The slabs are produced by the classic Bretonstone® process or comparable vacuum vibro-compaction processes.

Care & fabrication

Cleaning. For everyday use, warm water, a soft cloth or a clean mop and a neutral to slightly alkaline pH cleaner are enough. Soapy marble or engineered stone cleaners and mild all-purpose cleaners without acid are suitable. Take up spilled liquids – red wine, coffee, tea, juices or oil – promptly, because the resin-bound marble aggregate can draw pigment in spots. On the warm beige surface, dark stains are particularly noticeable, but with prompt action they can usually be removed with warm water and a mild cleaner.

Do not use. Limescale and sanitary cleaners, anti-limescale sprays, vinegar and citric acid, drain cleaners, WC cleaners, concrete and rust removers, highly concentrated all-purpose cleaners and chlorine-based bleaches are taboo – they attack both the marble and limestone chippings (carbonate reacts with acid) and the polyester resin, and lead to dull patches or tonal shifts. Solvent-based products (acetone, petrol, thinners, nitro cleaners) should likewise be avoided – they can dissolve the binder.

Sealing. A classic natural stone sealer is not strictly necessary – the polyester matrix largely closes the slab. In areas with an increased risk of staining (open kitchen, vanity unit, bar) we nonetheless recommend a light, non-film-forming stone sealer on a silane-polysiloxane basis as additional protection – on a warm beige slab this is particularly sensible, because dark pigment ingress would otherwise remain visible.

Kitchen. Polished surfaces tolerate brief kitchen loading, but are not thermally resilient: trivets for hot pots, pans and baking trays are essential; keep permanent heat sources (oven, dishwasher) away by design. Use chopping boards – the material is hard, but polyester resin can become dull along knife marks over time. Wipe off grease and acid stains (tomato, lemon, wine) immediately. For the actual kitchen work surface with daily acid exposure we recommend alternative materials (CTX BasicQuarz Cream Marfil, engineered quartz or porcelain).

Bathroom. Well usable in the bathroom (vanity unit, wall cladding, shower). Consistently avoid acidic care products and limescale-dissolving sprays, because they leave visible shadows on calcite/marble aggregates. In the shower area, wipe standing water off promptly so that a limescale film does not build up. Take care with henna, self-tanning or dyeing products – the pale cream surface reacts sensitively to pigment ingress.

Floor. The finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block further down. Dirt-trapping mats at the entrance markedly reduce the ingress of scratching particles.

External and frost. Not suitable for external construction. UV radiation yellows the resin over the long term, and freeze-thaw cycling can lead to micro-defects. Not to be recommended permanently even in fully sunlit conservatories or open loggias.

Scratches and repair. Superficial scratches on the polished version can be re-polished by a stonemason, and deeper damage filled with coloured polyester filler and worked in to match the colour. Because the material is industrially mixed, colour-accurate repairs are usually readily possible; with warm beige tones, however, the pigment matching is sensitive – a test piece is sensible.

Natural Crema Marfil shows markedly more pronounced bands and individual marble veins, but it is calcite-based and therefore acid-sensitive (wine, lemon, tomato leave etch marks). The agglomerated marble is more uniform and more reliable to plan with, with a more closed surface – though still not completely acid-proof, because the marble chippings themselves contain calcite.

Which slab formats and thicknesses are usual?

Italian agglomerated marbles are produced in the standard format of around 305 × 144 cm or 320 × 160 cm in thicknesses of 2 and 3 cm. From these we fabricate internal floors, stairs, window sills, wall cladding, vanity units, skirtings and individual furniture tops.

Is Beige Marfil Agglo IT suitable for kitchen worktops?

To a limited extent. As with all agglomerated marbles, the carbonate chippings react to strong acids (wine, lemon, vinegar, cola, tomato) and the polyester resin to direct heat above 80–90 °C. With trivets, chopping boards and a silane sealer, use on bar counters and island tops is practical; for the actual kitchen work surface we recommend more acid-proof alternatives (CTX BasicQuarz Cream Marfil, engineered quartz or porcelain).

Is the material suitable for external surfaces?

No, clearly not. Polyester binders yellow under UV radiation, the data sheet shows no frost resistance, and freeze-thaw cycling can lead to micro-defects. Beige Marfil Agglo IT is designed as an internal material.

Which cleaners may I use?

Permitted are warm water, neutral to slightly alkaline stone care products and mild all-purpose cleaners without acid.
