Background. Caesarstone® is the Israeli premium brand for surface materials, founded in 1987 at Kibbutz Sdot Yam and present worldwide today. The manufacturer's range comprises three clearly separated product lines: the historical Quartz Surfaces line made of engineered quartz (around 90 % quartz particles + 7 – 10 % polyester resin, the classic Caesarstone material), the Mineral™ line launched in 2024 as a silicosis-reducing further development, and the Lioli Porcelain line made of fully mineral, through-sintered large-format porcelain. Desert Limestone (code 2200) belongs to the Quartz Surfaces Classico collection – Caesarstone's classic line for solid-colour and finely granular engineered quartz with a reduced, calm and elegant appearance. The 2xxx code system marks the Classico family; 22xx codes are warm beige and sand tonal values. Please note: Desert Limestone 2200 has in part been placed on restricted availability at Caesarstone – at ROSSITTIS the slabs are currently available in depth from stock.
Material composition and manufacture. A Caesarstone Quartz Surfaces slab consists of around 90 % natural quartz granulate and around 7 – 10 % polyester resin with incorporated pigments. The mixture is pressed into slabs in the Bretonstone® process (vacuum vibro-compaction under vacuum) and then cured. This results in the typical engineered quartz properties: non-porous (sealed surface), scratch-resistant (thanks to the high quartz content), cut-resistant, with high compressive and flexural strength. Important: unlike porcelain, the polyester resin matrix remains temperature-sensitive – maximum short-term heat approx. 150 – 160 °C, and hot pans should consistently be used with trivets. Classic polyester engineered quartz is NOT UV-stable and is therefore designed for internal applications.
The Desert Limestone 2200 variant. The base tone is a warm creamy beige to delicate champagne sand with a subtle golden shimmer and a very calm, monochrome tonal distribution – stylistically an allusion to light desert limestone such as the Mediterranean-oriental platform limestone of the Sinai/Galala region or South African Kalahari sandstone. Very fine-grained quartz granulate speckles with subtle lighter and darker tonal accents are evenly distributed across the surface, giving the slab its characteristic sandy, sugar-like granulate character. From a medium distance the surface appears almost monochrome, warm and creamy; close up you discover the fine pigmented granulate structure. The selection does not live from dramatic veining or powerful marble references – it lives from the calm, pigmented engineered-stone depth and the warm, elegant, restrained character. This is one of the calmest tonal variants in the Caesarstone programme.
Formats and thicknesses. Caesarstone Quartz Surfaces supplies the slabs in the standard format. ROSSITTIS stocks Desert Limestone 2200 in 13 mm thickness; 20 mm and 30 mm thicknesses are additionally available in the Caesarstone programme.
Technical properties. Engineered quartz standard values for Caesarstone Classico: bulk density approximately 2,300 – 2,500 kg/m³, compressive strength approx. 200 – 250 MPa, flexural strength 50 – 70 MPa, water absorption < 0.02 % (virtually zero), Mohs hardness approx. 7 (thanks to the high quartz content). The slab is non-porous (sealed), scratch-resistant, cut-resistant and acid-resistant to weak household acids (vinegar, wine, lemon, tomato) – highly concentrated acids or alkaline industrial cleaners can locally dissolve the resin matrix. Heat resistance: 150 – 160 °C dry surface, no hot pans set down directly, trivets obligatory. Important: NOT UV-stable – the polyester resin matrix can yellow under direct solar radiation outdoors, which is why Desert Limestone is designed for internal applications.
Warranty. Caesarstone grants the “Caesarstone Forever” lifetime factory warranty for internal applications – an industry-standard premium warranty promise. The warranty expressly excludes external applications.

Compared with genuine light limestone such as Galala or Cleopatra Creme, Desert Limestone is predictable and acid-resistant, while the natural stone appears geologically more authentic but calls for a higher maintenance effort.
An honest assessment. Desert Limestone 2200 is the ideal choice for any internal application calling for a calm, warm creamy beige material character with a restrained appearance. The selection works particularly strongly as a calm kitchen worktop and island in modern, warm Mediterranean kitchen concepts, as a wall cladding in airy living spaces and as a bathroom fit-out in elegant wellness areas. Anyone needing absolute heat resistance (setting hot pans down directly) should switch to a porcelain; anyone planning external applications should turn to a UV-stable BIO-UV engineered quartz line (e.g. Diresco BU041 Nature Beige); anyone wanting a more dramatic marble-look image should switch to Caesarstone Lioli or to marble-quoting Optimum Surfaces selections.
