Estremoz Super is a premium grade of the classic Portuguese Estremoz marble from the Alentejo — Estremoz is one of the most tradition-rich marble producing regions in Europe, with an unbroken stone-building tradition since Roman antiquity. Characteristic is a warm cream-beige to light ivory ground colour with a very fine, calm mineral texture without pronounced veins or breccia format. The slab image appears elegant, Mediterranean and flexible to work with in planning terms — typical of high-quality Iberian marbles. At ROSSITTIS we carry Estremoz Super for wall claddings, interior floor areas, window sills, skirting details, pool surrounds under cover, fountain surrounds, sculptures, reliefs, columns and project-specific bespoke work.
Geologically, Estremoz Super is a marble from the Portuguese marble producing regions around Estremoz, Borba and Vila Viçosa in the Alentejo (Évora region) — the Estremoz anticline is Portugal's most important marble deposit and has supplied dimension stone for Iberian and Central European architecture since Roman antiquity. Mineralogically, the material consists predominantly of recrystallised calcium carbonate with an even, fine grain size. The warm colour tones arise from small additions of iron oxide in the originally marine sediment matrix.
The technical values are classic marble values: sound compressive strength, moderate water absorption, acid sensitivity due to the calcium carbonate content. That makes Estremoz Super a classic interior and wall stone. Wine, lemon juice, vinegar or carbonated drinks should not be left to act on the surface for longer periods, as they can leave dull stains. Outdoors, Estremoz Super can be used well under cover; for direct weather exposure in freeze-thaw zones we recommend a project-specific suitability assessment. Compared with classic Italian marbles such as Bianco Carrara or Calacatta, Estremoz Super brings a somewhat warmer ground colour tending more towards cream-beige, with a calmer mineral texture.
At ROSSITTIS, Estremoz Super is available as a raw slab (random-size slab), as a floor tile, as tread and riser, as a window sill, as a skirting, as a wall facing and as project-specific cut work. The surface finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block further down.
Our honest assessment: Estremoz Super is a first-class choice for projects looking for a warm Mediterranean marble with a classically elegant Iberian character — from designed wall claddings through interior floor areas to sculptures and reliefs. Anyone needing maximum acid resistance for heavily loaded kitchen worktops should choose an acid-proof hard stone or a quartzite.

Finishes
Estremoz Super is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.
Poliert
As a calcareous marble, Estremoz Super is acid-sensitive and needs care to match. Directly after installation we recommend a sealer on a silane or polysiloxane basis — it protects against stains from wine, coffee, oil or tomato sauce. Ongoing cleaning is carried out with a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner and a soft microfibre cloth. Strictly avoid acidic cleaners (vinegar, citric acid, descalers), aggressive all-purpose cleaners and abrasive pads. Take up spilled acids on interior surfaces promptly. We recommend refreshing the sealer every two to three years.
Frequently asked questions
What is Estremoz Super?
Estremoz Super is a premium grade of the classic Portuguese Estremoz marble from the quarry regions around Estremoz, Borba and Vila Viçosa in the Alentejo.
Where is Estremoz Super quarried?
From the Estremoz anticline in the Alentejo (Évora region) — Portugal's most important marble deposit, with unbroken production since Roman antiquity.
Which surfaces are available?
The surface finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.
Is Estremoz Super suitable for kitchen worktops?
Only with reservations. As a calcareous marble it is acid-sensitive. With good sealing it is possible for designed bar counters; for main worktops with heavy acid exposure, hard stones or quartzites are better.
Estremoz Super or Bianco Carrara — what is the difference?
Bianco Carrara from Italy shows a distinctly cooler white-grey tone with characteristic grey movement veins. Estremoz Super from Portugal is warmer and creamier in overall tone, with a calmer and more even mineral texture.
How do I clean and care for Estremoz Super?
Daily care with a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner and a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid acidic cleaners. Silane-based sealing after installation. Refresh every two to three years.
