Verde Forest

Verde Forest is a dark green Indian serpentine marble from Rajasthan with a fine, net-like web of light green and white veins. Also traded as Indian Green, Rajasthan Sea Green or Verde Guatemala; used for wall cladding, floors, window sills, vanity tops and prestigious interior surfaces.

Petrographically, Verde Forest is a serpentinite from Rajasthan (India). In the trade it is sold as marble.

About Verde Forest

Verde Forest shows a deep, dark green tone run through by a fine, irregular network of light green to whitish veins. Darker, almost black-green areas alternate with lighter zones, giving each slab a lively, forest-like look. Polished, the stone appears rich and deep; satin or honed, it is calmer and more matt. As with all natural stone, the look varies from block to block; for continuous surfaces we recommend selecting slabs in our yard.

Verde Forest comes from Rajasthan in north-western India, one of the most important quarrying regions for green serpentine marbles. Petrographically it is a serpentinite with carbonate content; in the trade it is sold as marble. It should not be confused with Brazilian green hard stones such as Verde Floresta or Verde Maritaca, which despite similar names show a clearly different, granite-like grained look.

Finishes

Verde Forest is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

Polishing creates a glossy surface with the highest possible colour intensity and a pronounced depth effect in the characteristically green mineral structure. Depending on the composition, the effect can be semi-gloss in places. As a silicate stone it is fundamentally acid-resistant; calcitic vein sections must be treated with care where acids are concerned.

Satin-honed

The surface is brushed — softer minerals are removed in a targeted way, creating a slight depth with a matt appearance. Veined serpentinites gain a particularly characterful look and feel in this way. Easy to care for in daily use; the more matt finish conceals minor traces of everyday care better than polished.

Honed C220

Matt appearance created by fine honing with a C220 grit — the level surface has a calm look, and light honing marks are possible. More maintenance-intensive than polished, but more scratch-resistant and stylistically matt-elegant. A calm finish for modern floor areas and wall claddings with reduced reflection.

Care & fabrication

Verde Forest is acid-sensitive: vinegar, lemon juice, wine or acidic cleaners can etch the surface and dull the polish. We recommend sealing after installation and daily care with a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner and a soft cloth. Spills should be wiped up promptly. The stone is not intended for outdoor use.
