Cleaning. In everyday use, warm water, a soft cloth or a clean mop and a neutral to slightly alkaline pH cleaner are sufficient. Soapy engineered stone cleaners and mild all-purpose cleaners without acid are suitable. Wipe up spilt liquids promptly, because the resin-bonded marble aggregate can draw in pigment in places; on the mid-grey surface, light stains (limescale, lemonade, wine) show up faster than on light-coloured slabs.
Do not use. Limescale and bathroom cleaners, anti-limescale sprays, acetic and citric acid, drain cleaners, WC cleaners, concrete and rust removers, highly concentrated all-purpose cleaners and chlorine-based bleaches are off limits – they attack both the marble chippings (carbonate reacts with acid) and the polyester resin, and lead to matt patches or lightened areas that are particularly conspicuous on a darker surface. Solvent-based products (acetone, petrol, thinners, nitro cleaners) should likewise be avoided.
Impregnation. A classic natural stone impregnation is not strictly necessary, because the polyester matrix largely seals the slab. In areas with an increased risk of staining (open-plan kitchen, washstand, bar) we nevertheless recommend a light, non-film-forming stone impregnator on a silane-polysiloxane basis as additional protection. On grey engineered stones such protective layers make particular sense, because localised lightened areas would stand out strongly against the dark base surface.
Kitchen. Polished surfaces tolerate brief kitchen use, but are not thermally resilient: trivets for hot pots, pans and baking trays are mandatory; permanent heat sources (oven, dishwasher) must be kept away on site. Use chopping boards – the material is hard, but polyester resin can become matt along knife marks over time. Wipe off acidic foods (tomato, lemon, wine, vinegar) immediately, because they attack both the chippings and the matrix.
Bathroom. Micro Cement Grey can be used in the bathroom (washstand, wall cladding, shower). Consistently avoid acidic care products and limescale-dissolving sprays, and wipe standing water away promptly in the shower area so that a limescale film cannot build up. White limescale rims remain visible on the dark slab for a long time – wiping down regularly with a soft cloth prevents this.
Outdoors and frost. Not suitable for external construction. UV radiation can change the grey pigmentation in the long term (slight fading), and freeze-thaw cycles can lead to micro defects. Nor is the material recommended for permanent use in fully sunlit conservatories or open loggias.
Scratches and repair. Superficial scratches on the polished variant can be re-polished by a stonemason; deeper damage can be filled with tinted polyester filler and worked in to match the colour. Because the material is industrially mixed, colour-accurate repairs are usually readily possible; on the grey slab, however, pigment matching is more sensitive than on a light marble agglomerate.
