Porcelain from Italy

LAMINAM® Seta Blanc

LAMINAM® Seta Blanc is an Italian large-format porcelain from the Seta collection with an almost pure white ground tone and gossamer, flowing silky lines — the design approach interprets the materiality of white silk or fine linen in a technically thought-through porcelain. Full UV, heat, acid and frost resistance; documented technical data: density 2,200 kg/m³, water absorption 0.1 %, abrasion class 175.

Hergestellt von Laminam S.p.A. in Fiorano Modenese, Italien.

About LAMINAM® Seta Blanc

LAMINAM® Seta Blanc belongs to the Seta collection of the Italian porcelain pioneer Laminam S.p.A. (founded in 2001 in Fiorano Modenese, Italy — the same Emilia-Romagna ceramic region in which ABK Group, Florim, Atlas Concorde and Del Conca Group also produce). Laminam was one of the world's first manufacturers of large-format porcelain slabs and has substantially shaped the porcelain market segment for architecture and interior fit-out.

Finishes

LAMINAM® Seta Blanc is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Naturale matt

LAMINAM Seta Blanc is a fully sintered-through ceramic with a documented water absorption of 0.1 % and needs no sealer.

Daily cleaning: a soft microfibre cloth, warm water and a neutral multi-purpose cleaner or a mild glass cleaner. Then wipe over with clear water and polish dry with a soft cloth — otherwise limescale veils remain visible on the bright off-white surface.

Acid resistance: complete (factory-certified “yes”). Unlike calcareous natural stone variants, lemon juice, vinegar, wine, tomato sauce, coffee, cola or descaler are uncritical on Seta Blanc and leave no etch marks.

Heat resistance: complete. Hot pans, pots, baking trays or oven dishes can be set down on the surface straight from the cooker — without a trivet.

Scratch resistance: very high (Mohs hardness 7–8, abrasion class 175). Steel knives and normal kitchen tools produce no scratches.

UV stability: complete. Direct sunlight outdoors causes no discolouration — Seta Blanc is equally suited to external façades, pool surrounds, terrace tables and south-facing façades.

Stain treatment: all common food stains can be removed with warm water and a neutral cleaner. On the bright surface, dark stains are particularly visible — prompt cleaning is therefore more advisable than with darker materials. Stubborn stains can be treated with special porcelain cleaners.

Do not use: extremely aggressive acids (hydrofluoric acid HF — glass industry), coarse steel wool, diamond files.

Outdoors: regular cleaning of pollen, bird droppings, algae growth and road salt residues. Freeze-thaw cycles are uncritical (factory-certified frost resistance, water absorption 0.1 %).

Repair: porcelain is very robust, but a direct impact on the edge can chip or break the material. Edge damage generally requires the affected slab element to be replaced.

Frequently asked questions

What is the LAMINAM Seta collection?

The Seta collection (Italian “seta” for silk) is a conceptually distinctive line in the Laminam range: unlike the Diamond Collection (premium marble) or I Naturali (natural stone reproductions), it quotes no specific natural materials, but the materiality of textiles — fine silk fabric, smooth linen, silk paper or finely floated lime render. The design approach creates an atmospherically warm, compositionally restrained porcelain.

Which natural stone model does Seta Blanc have?

None in the narrower sense. Seta Blanc is a deliberate porcelain interpretation of its own that quotes textile materiality and atmospheric warmth, not specific natural dimension stones. In its look it is most comparable to finely floated lime render or woven white fabrics — NOT a marble or onyx look.

What is LAMINAM Seta Blanc made of?

Mineral raw materials — natural clays, feldspars, quartzes and pigments. Pressed under high pressure into large-format slabs and sintered at over 1,200 °C. Factory-certified properties: bulk density 2,200 kg/m³, water absorption 0.1 %, frost and acid resistance, abrasion class 175.

Which thicknesses and sizes are there?

Ex works, Laminam produces Seta Blanc in the large format 1,200 × 3,000 mm in thicknesses of 6 mm (wall and furniture applications) and 12 mm (Laminam 12+, the classic worktop and vanity top thickness). In the ROSSITTIS stock we currently carry both thicknesses with a naturale matt surface.

Is Seta Blanc suitable for external applications?

Yes, completely. Porcelain is UV-stable, frost-resistant (factory-certified 0.1 % water absorption), acid-resistant and heat-resistant — the ideal material class for continuous interior-to-exterior applications such as external façades, pool surrounds, terrace tables and south-facing façades.

Do I need a trivet for hot pans?

No, not strictly. Seta Blanc is fully heat-resistant — a pan straight from the cooker can be set down on the surface without the material coming to any harm.

Seta Blanc or white marble such as Bianco Carrara?

Genuine Bianco Carrara has an entirely different material language — a crystalline marble with fine natural veining, geologically authentic, but acid-sensitive, prone to scratching and care-intensive. Seta Blanc is a deliberately textile, atmospheric interpretation of its own, NOT a marble model. Which choice fits depends on whether a classic marble look (genuine Bianco Carrara) or a modern textile, atmospheric brightness (Seta Blanc) is wanted.

How much material do you currently have in stock?

We currently carry 18 large-format slabs of LAMINAM Seta Blanc in 6 mm and 12 mm thickness with a naturale matt surface. Standard slab format 1,200 × 3,000 mm. For larger projects and continuous interior-to-exterior applications we recommend prompt reservation.
