LAMINAM® Seta Blanc belongs to the Seta collection of the Italian porcelain pioneer Laminam S.p.A. (founded in 2001 in Fiorano Modenese, Italy — the same Emilia-Romagna ceramic region in which ABK Group, Florim, Atlas Concorde and Del Conca Group also produce). Laminam was one of the world's first manufacturers of large-format porcelain slabs and has substantially shaped the porcelain market segment for architecture and interior fit-out.
The Seta collection (Italian “seta” for silk) is a conceptually distinctive line in the Laminam range: unlike the Diamond Collection (premium marble looks), I Naturali (natural stone reproductions) or Fokos (concrete looks), the Seta range does NOT quote specific natural materials, but the materiality of textiles — fine silk fabric, smoothly woven linen, silk paper or finely floated lime render. The design approach translates this textile feel into a technically consistent, thought-through large-format porcelain with a particularly calm, atmospherically warm effect.
In the slab image, Seta Blanc presents an almost pure white ground tone tending slightly towards off-white, with subtle cool undertones. Across the surface run gossamer, flowing, almost imperceptible silky lines — fine, elongated structures that look like a soft shimmer of fabric or light folds in a white cloth. Here and there are subtle silver-grey accent lines and fine scratch-like streaks that give the surface an almost tactile, atmospheric depth. The impression is consistently calm and compositionally restrained, without tipping into a sterile solid-colour effect — a material that does not dominate rooms but carries them reliably and warmly.
It is precisely this compositional characteristic that is the strength of Seta Blanc. The material does not compete with furniture fronts, timber surfaces, textiles or lighting concepts, but works as a reliably bright architectural stage with a textile, atmospheric warmth. In modern living concepts, demanding bathrooms, hospitality and prestige interior architecture, that is often exactly the material statement wanted — a bright stage that does not appear sterile or technical, but homely and elegant. In combination with warm timber (walnut, olive, oak), brushed brass, linen textiles, bouclé upholstery and sandy warm natural tones, the seta-white visual concept develops a contemporary, luxurious, almost hotel-like elegant atmosphere.
Technically it is a fully sintered-through large-format porcelain. Mineral raw materials (natural clays, feldspars, quartzes and pigments) are pressed under high pressure into large-format slabs and sintered at temperatures above 1,200 °C. The result is a chemically non-reactive, almost pore-free ceramic material. For Seta Blanc, Laminam documents a specific factory data sheet specification: bulk density 2,200 kg/m³, water absorption 0.1 %, frost resistance (yes), acid resistance (yes), abrasion class 175, full UV stability, heat resistance (hot pans can be set down directly), scratch resistance (Mohs hardness 7–8) and food safety. The documented water absorption of 0.1 % makes the material usable without difficulty under any freeze-thaw loading.
Ex works, Laminam produces Seta Blanc in the large format 1,200 × 3,000 mm in various thicknesses — above all in 12 mm (Laminam 12+) for classic worktops and vanity tops, and in 6 mm for wall and furniture applications. Among the finishes, Laminam carries above all Naturali (matt and natural) for the Seta range, and other treatments on request.
At ROSSITTIS we currently carry Seta Blanc as 18 large-format slabs in 6 mm and 12 mm thickness with a naturale matt surface — the standard treatment for the Seta line, which gives the textile, atmospheric feel its authentically matt, lightly textured appearance. On request we produce from it kitchen worktops, islands, vanity tops, wall and floor tiles, furniture surfaces, table surfaces, external façades, pool surrounds and project-specific special cuts for interior and exterior applications.
For anyone comparing Seta Blanc with other materials: stylistically close are Laminam's own Calce line (mineral, lime-render-like surfaces), the Cementi line (cementitious surfaces) and similar atmospherically warm porcelain slabs from other manufacturers such as Florim, ABK Group or Optimum Surfaces. Among genuine natural materials there is no direct equivalent — the textile feel is a deliberate porcelain interpretation of its own, not a natural stone model. For a very similar brightness with a genuine natural stone character, white premium marbles (Calacatta, Bianco Carrara, Volakas) would be an alternative — but then with an entirely different material character and care profile.
Our honest assessment: LAMINAM Seta Blanc is a decidedly elegant choice for projects that want to create a warm, homely architecture with a restrained, textile, atmospheric brightness — with full porcelain robustness for interior AND exterior use. Anyone looking for dramatic marble veining or a dense compositional statement effect should reach for I Naturali or Diamond designs. But anyone who wants the calm, almost textile-warm white image in an easy-care, heat- and acid-resistant large-format quality — and wants to create a homely, luxurious atmosphere that does not appear cool and technical — will find a particularly successful solution here.
