Luminix Blanc

Geologically, Luminix Blanc is a metamorphic quartzite from Brazilian deposits. Quartzites form when quartz-rich sandstones are transformed over millions of years under pressure and temperature within the earth's crust — the original quartz grains fuse into a dense fabric, while embedded iron and metal minerals provide the warm gold-bronze colour accents. With a Mohs hardness of around 7, the material is among the hardest natural stones in our range, clearly above granite (Mohs ~6).

Technically, Luminix Blanc benefits from its quartz-dominated mineralogy: acids from wine, lemon, vinegar or coffee leave no etch marks on the polished surface. Water absorption is low, the material is frost-resistant and, in most configurations, suitable for external use. Compressive and flexural strength lie in the upper range of the natural stone scale.

At ROSSITTIS we carry Luminix Blanc as a raw slab for kitchen worktops and vanity tops, in tiles for large-format floor and wall surfaces and as project-specific cut-to-size work. The choice of finish is governed by the application: polished emphasises the high-contrast figure most strongly and is the first choice for bookmatched wall surfaces. The finishes currently available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block further down this page. Other trade names are “Blanc Luminix” or “Blanc du Blanc”.

Compared with high-contrast white marbles such as Calacatta Viola or Patagonia, Luminix Blanc offers markedly greater durability without giving up the theatrical figure. Set against technical alternatives in engineered quartz or ceramic, it remains a genuine natural stone with an untouched geological slab image.
