Porfido Giotto is an Italian porphyry from the extensive porphyry deposits of northern Italy — the famous Porfido provinces lie in the Alps, in particular in Trentino and in the region around Cembra. Italian porphyries have for centuries been a central dimension stone for Italian city streets (the famous “Cubetti di Porfido” — square setts), palazzo external surfaces and prestige external architecture.
Geologically it is a porphyry — a volcanic rock (extrusive rock) with a characteristic porphyritic texture: larger phenocrysts (predominantly quartz and feldspar) are embedded in a fine-grained groundmass. This typical texture arises from a two-stage solidification regime — the larger crystals formed slowly in a magma chamber, while the finer groundmass solidified later and more quickly during the volcanic eruption or the near-surface intrusion. Because of their high quartz content, porphyries have excellent weather resistance and hardness (Mohs hardness ~6).

The surface is brushed — softer minerals are removed in a targeted way, creating a slight depth with a matt appearance. As with granite it is easy to care for and suited to everyday use, and acid-resistant. A restrained finish that gives the characteristic porphyry minerals a subtle, matt stage.

Porfido Giotto is a dense Italian porphyry with high hardness and complete acid, heat and frost resistance.
Daily cleaning: a soft cloth, warm water, a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner.
