Migmatit from India

Listed in our range under Granite.

Aurora India

Aurora India is a brown-grey to cream-coloured Indian granite with flowing, cloudy figuring. At ROSSITTIS it is used for floors, stairs, wall cladding and selected worktops wherever a lively hard stone between granite calm and marble appearance is wanted.

About Aurora India

Aurora India lives not on evenness but on movement. Its colouring ranges from cream, taupe and brown-grey to softly graduated darker bands. This makes the stone appear warm, flowing and markedly more decorative than classic granular granites. On larger floor areas in particular, on stairs, wall cladding or striking kitchen islands, this creates a highly distinctive effect that mediates between hard stone character and marble-like figuring.

The stone comes from India, above all from the Nizamabad and Hyderabad area, and is clearly carried in the trade as a granite, or hard rock. Petrographically, Aurora India is a migmatite. For specification and marketing, however, the granite classification is the language that works in practice. Compared with Paradiso or Juparana, Aurora India usually appears softer and more flowing; compared with true marble, however, more robust and less critical in terms of acid in everyday use.

Finishes

Aurora India is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Poliert

Because of its water absorption of about 1.73 %, Aurora India should be sealed consistently, particularly as a worktop, in the bathroom and on all surfaces with frequent moisture. This makes cleaning and maintenance easier and reduces the risk of dark discolouration.

For cleaning and maintenance, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, a microfibre cloth and little standing water are suitable. Strongly alkaline or strongly acidic products are unnecessary even with hard rocks and tend rather to stress joints and adjoining building materials.

In the kitchen, oil, coffee and strongly staining liquids should be removed promptly. The high compressive strength makes the stone robust, but the more open water absorption demands somewhat more discipline than with very dense granites.

For external applications, a coordinated finish, good drainage and a clean build-up are decisive. Where these points are right, Aurora India is also well usable in more heavily loaded projects.

Frequently asked questions

Is Aurora India suitable for a kitchen?

Yes, but with good sealing. With around 2,980 kg/m³ bulk density and approximately 264 MPa compressive strength, Aurora India is very resilient, but the water absorption of about 1.73 % demands more care than with very dense granites.

Which finishes are available for Aurora India?

The surface finishes currently held in stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.

Where does Aurora India come from?

Aurora India comes from India, above all from the Nizamabad and Hyderabad area. There the stone belongs to the striking, cloudily figured hard rocks.

How do I clean and care for Aurora India?

For cleaning and maintenance you should use pH-neutral natural stone cleaners and seal the stone regularly. On worktops, liquids should not be left standing for long.

Is Aurora India suitable for outdoor use?

In principle yes, provided the finish, drainage and sealing are cleanly planned. The stone is used for interior and exterior applications, but because of its higher water absorption it demands more attention than very dense granites.

Aurora India or Paradiso?

Aurora India usually appears lighter, softer and more flowing. Paradiso is darker, higher in contrast and classically more granitic in its overall effect.
