About Avorio Sand
Avorio Sand brings a warm, calm, Mediterranean colour signature into play: a cream-white to warm ivory base tone with a very fine-grained, sandstone-like texture and only discreet, almost invisible clouds of movement. The slab image is evenly patterned throughout, without pronounced veins, bands or speckles — the effect is clear, calm and very flexible in planning terms, comparable with pale Italian sandstones or cream-beige natural limestones but without their maintenance requirement. Avorio Sand is carried in the market as a large-format sintered material — a material family produced from mineral raw materials by high-pressure pressing and sinter firing at very high temperatures. Sintered materials combine the look of classic natural materials with the advantages of modern engineered products: extreme density, very low water absorption, high scratch and impact resistance, complete resistance to acids and alkalis, UV stability and frost resistance. The ivory colour signature is achieved through mineral pigments and controlled firing and is reproducible across the entire slab surface — ideal for large projects with several slab joints and a consistent appearance across all surfaces. In Italian usage, “Avorio” means “ivory”, and “Sand” refers to the sandy, fine-grained character.
Sintered materials such as Avorio Sand are technically far easier to maintain than many natural stones: they are non-porous and need no sealing. Wine, coffee, oil, tomato sauce or other strongly colouring substances do not penetrate and can be wiped off without difficulty. Compared with natural cream-beige sandstones or limestones with a similar look (for example Crema Marfil, Gris Pulpis, Botticino), Avorio Sand offers the decisive everyday advantage of complete acid resistance — wine, lemon juice, vinegar or carbonated drinks leave no etch marks. UV radiation is also unproblematic: sintered materials are colour-stable and can therefore be used outdoors without restriction, which is not the case with classic engineered quartz slabs.

Die Oberfläche wird gebürstet — weichere Minerale werden gezielt entfernt, es entsteht eine subtile Tiefe und mattes Erscheinungsbild. Mattes Erscheinungsbild durch feinen Schliff mit Körnung C220 — die ebene Oberfläche wirkt ruhig mit etwas intensiverer Farbwirkung als C120, leichte Schleifspuren möglich. Sandgestrahlt+satiniert
Die Oberfläche wird sandgestrahlt aufgeraut und anschließend gebürstet — dadurch entsteht eine plane Fläche mit sanfterer Haptik als rein sandgestrahlt. Die Farbe wirkt zurückhaltend, die Textur ist rutschhemmend. Für anspruchsvolle Außenanwendungen, bei denen Trittsicherheit mit feinerer Haptik kombiniert werden soll.
Care & fabrication
As a sintered material, Avorio Sand is considerably easier to maintain than most natural stones. Sealing is not required — the material is non-porous and takes up practically no liquids. Routine cleaning is carried out with a mild, pH-neutral cleaner or a solution of warm water with a little washing-up liquid, applied with a soft microfibre cloth or sponge. Strongly colouring substances such as red wine, coffee, oil or tomato sauce should not soak in, but should nonetheless be taken up promptly to avoid surface residues. Sintered materials are resistant to acids and alkalis within the normal household range — wine, lemon juice, vinegar or standard household cleaners are unproblematic. The only things to avoid are very aggressive industrial solvents, hydrofluoric acid and abrasive steel wool. Heat resistance is very high — hot pots and pans can as a rule be set down directly. Outdoors, Avorio Sand is frost- and UV-resistant — rinse off de-icing salt residues with clear water in spring.
