Azul Boquira is one of those quartzites that play out colour not through volume but through depth. The effect tends towards blue-grey, smoky steel blue and cool mineral layering. This makes the stone appear distinctive without being decoratively overloaded. In kitchens, on striking wall surfaces, on stairs or across generous floor areas this can work very strongly, because the colour stays present and yet remains architecturally legible.
In the trade, Azul Boquira is carried as a Brazilian quartzite from Boquira in Bahia. Compared with more strongly linear blue quartzites such as Azul Macaubas it usually appears more compact and quieter. Compared with blue granites it brings more depth of effect and a more strongly metamorphic texture. It is precisely this mix of colour and technical sobriety that makes it interesting for high-quality interior fit-out and selected external projects.
As is typical for quartzite, bulk density is about 2,700 kg/m³, water absorption often around 0.23 % and compressive strength in the region of 165 MPa. That is the direction in which Azul Boquira too positions itself as a robust hard stone. For kitchen worktops, stairs and heavily used wall or floor surfaces that is a very good basis. Quartzite is markedly less sensitive than marble or limestone, but remains a natural stone that should be cleanly fabricated and given an appropriate surface finish.

Poliert
Politur ist die klassischste Veredelung für Quarzit — eine glänzende Oberfläche mit höchstmöglicher Farbintensität und ausgeprägter Tiefenwirkung. Je nach mineralischer Zusammensetzung kann die Wirkung stellenweise mattglänzend sein. Als Silikatgestein vollständig säurebeständig und kratzhart — ideal für Küchenarbeitsplatten und Sichtflächen.
Care & fabrication
Azul Boquira should be sealed as a worktop, vanity top or heavily used floor surface. This makes cleaning and maintenance easier and reduces the penetration of oil, coffee and other staining agents.
For cleaning and maintenance, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, a soft cloth and regular drying off are sufficient. Aggressive specialist cleaners are usually unnecessary with quartzite.
In the kitchen, red wine, oil and acidic foods should nevertheless be removed promptly. Not because the stone is as sensitive as marble, but because even dense quartzites benefit from consistent routine care.
For outdoor use, a slip-appropriate finish, proper drainage and clean installation are decisive. That way the robust quartzite structure remains convincing over the long term.
