About Blanco Alba

Blanco Alba is one of those Spanish white granites that work not through volume but through calm. The ground colour is pale grey to white-grey, complemented by small grey mineral inclusions and a fine, largely even grain. The result is a surface that reads as clean, bright and easy to plan with. In modern architecture, in facades, window sills, stairs and understated kitchens in particular, this is a clear advantage.

The stone comes from Galicia, from the province of Ourense in north-west Spain. Within the Alba family, Blanco Alba is the lightest expression; darker relatives such as Gris Alba or Moreno Alba show more grey and more visual movement. Blanco Alba therefore positions itself very deliberately as a pale, restrained granite. Compared with Bianco Sardo it is usually finer and calmer; against Carrara marble it is markedly more robust and more capable outdoors. Anyone seeking a pale natural stone with a matter-of-fact granite effect gets a very dependable material image here.

Finishes

Blanco Alba is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Poliert

Blanco Alba should be sealed above all on kitchen and wet surfaces. That makes cleaning and care easier and reduces the penetration of oil, coffee or coloured liquids.

For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, warm water and a soft cloth are sufficient. Pale granites are visually more tolerant than black stones, but they benefit just as much from regular routine cleaning.

Avoid strongly staining substances over long periods, aggressive deep cleaners without natural stone approval and mechanically abrasive pads. On external surfaces, good drainage and professional laying are more important than excessive chemistry.

When Blanco Alba is used outdoors, the finish should be chosen to suit the use. The stone then remains bright, grippy and dependable over the long term.
