About Blossom White
Blossom White is the short form, widespread in German-speaking markets, of the trade name “Plum Blossom White” — a classic Chinese granite from the Nanan quarry district in the south-east Chinese province of Fujian. Characteristic is a white to light grey, medium- to coarse-grained granitic matrix of quartz and feldspar, interspersed with fine black biotite speckles and — as its visual signature — numerous pink to burgundy mineral fields. These garnet- and iron-oxide-bearing inclusions recall the blossoms of a plum tree, which is what gave the material its poetic trade name. The main quarry region lies around Nanan, where various plum blossom variants are extracted in different selections and grain sizes. Mineralogically, white plagioclase and transparent quartz dominate, supplemented by light to deep pink potassium feldspar and individually distributed red garnets; the black speckles are biotite mica. On the international market the material also runs under the full trade name Plum Blossom White; the designation “Blossom White” is the short form of the same material established in the German-speaking stone trade.

Acid resistance is given within the normal application range — wine, lemon juice or vinegar leave no etch marks. Care & fabrication
As a Chinese granite, Blossom White can be maintained over the long term and cleaned without difficulty. For kitchen worktops, external paving and heavily used floor areas we recommend a silane- or polysiloxane-based sealer as protection against red wine, coffee, oil and tomato sauce — with a predominantly white material such as Blossom White, sealing is particularly sensible, since stains stand out visually more strongly on a light ground than on dark stones. Routine cleaning is done with a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner and a soft microfibre cloth or mop; clear water alone is almost always enough for daily care. You should avoid strongly alkaline heavy-duty cleaners, acidic products such as vinegar or citrus cleaners, and abrasive scouring pads. Outdoors, Blossom White is frost-resistant and tolerates de-icing salt — salt residues should be rinsed off with water in spring. We recommend refreshing the sealer every three to five years depending on exposure, more frequently for kitchen worktops and exposed external surfaces.
