About Calacatta Viola Originale

Calacatta Viola Originale is one of those marbles that dominates a room immediately. The material shows a pale white to ivory ground crossed by strong violet, wine-red and partly brown-violet veins. This figuring is not fine and restrained as in classic Carrara, but deliberately expressive. That is precisely why Calacatta Viola is so often specified where natural stone is meant to be more than a surface — a design statement: in bathrooms, on kitchen islands, as a vanity top, as a fireplace surround or as a back wall panel in high-quality interiors.

Finishes

Calacatta Viola Originale is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Satiniert

Calacatta Viola Originale should be sealed carefully after fabrication. Sealing helps with cleaning and maintenance, but it does not remove the acid sensitivity inherent to a marble.

For cleaning and maintenance, use pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, clear water and a soft microfibre cloth. On pale surfaces, residues should not be allowed to dry on, so that neither streaks nor dull patches develop.

Avoid vinegar-based cleaners, citrus cleaners, bathroom cleaners, limescale removers and abrasive products. Wine, coffee, oil, make-up and lemon juice should not be left to act on worktops and vanity tops.

If you want to keep Calacatta Viola looking good in the long term, the sealer should be refreshed regularly depending on use. In a heavily used kitchen area this matters more than in prestige wall applications.

Frequently asked questions

Is Calacatta Viola Originale suitable for a kitchen?

Yes, but only with an understanding of marble. Calacatta Viola Originale is acid-sensitive and develops a patina in use. As a kitchen worktop it is ideal for projects where character matters more than absolute peace of mind.

Which finishes are available for Calacatta Viola Originale?

The surface finishes currently held in stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.

Where does Calacatta Viola Originale come from?

The stone comes from Italy and belongs to the Calacatta marble world of the Apuan Alps. It is a particularly expressive variety with violet to bordeaux veining.

How do I clean Calacatta Viola Originale correctly?

For cleaning and maintenance you need pH-neutral natural stone cleaners and a soft cloth. Acidic cleaning products are unsuitable because they can etch the material surface.

Is Calacatta Viola Originale frost-resistant?

For permanent external use, Calacatta Viola Originale is not the first choice. Like other marbles it reacts more sensitively to weathering and loses its gloss more quickly in an outdoor climate.

Calacatta Viola or Carrara – which is better?

Carrara is quieter, greyer and more classic. Calacatta Viola appears markedly more expressive, warmer and more exclusive. Technically both marbles are acid-sensitive; the decision is made on design and on the nerve to accept strong figuring.
