Cleaning. In everyday use, warm water, a soft cloth or a clean mop and a neutral to slightly alkaline pH cleaner are sufficient. Mild all-purpose cleaners, mild washing-up foam and all commercially available bathroom and kitchen cleaners without hydrofluoric acid (HF) are suitable. The porcelain is almost completely acid-resistant – even acetic, citric and hydrochloric acid attack the slab practically not at all. Take up spilt liquids promptly, because every shadow is immediately visible on the light surface; the material itself, however, is non-porous and therefore stain-resistant.
Do not use. Hydrofluoric acid (HF) and cleaners containing fluoride are the only class of substance that can genuinely attack porcelain – they occur practically only in industrial glass and stone cleaners and are not relevant in the household. And even though the slab is hard: steel wool and strongly abrasive pads can cause the very finest matting on the polished variant.
Impregnation. Not necessary – porcelain is inherently dense and non-porous, and water absorption is below 0.1 %. An impregnation would tend to show on the surface as a veil and is superfluous.
Naturale matt surface. The naturale matt variant reacts somewhat more sensitively to greasy films and visible wiping streaks than a polished variant; isolated water droplets dry less smoothly. We recommend wiping dry promptly with a soft microfibre cloth.
Floor and wall. On floor areas we recommend the naturale matt variant as the standard surface (more slip-inhibiting than polished, water droplets less visible). On walls both surfaces work equally well – on large bathroom walls, matt is somewhat more practical for everyday use.
Kitchen. Very well suited as a splashback, wall cladding and buffet or furniture top. Acids (wine, lemon, tomato, vinegar) leave no traces, and high temperatures are unproblematic.
Bathroom. In the bathroom the slab can be used without restriction as a wall cladding, bath surround and shower. Anti-limescale sprays and all commercially available bathroom cleaners are permitted. Wipe standing water away promptly in the shower area so that a limescale film cannot build up.
Outdoors and frost. Fully suitable. The slab is UV-stable, frost- and weather-resistant and can be used as a rear-ventilated façade panel, external wall cladding, pool surround and external floor covering. On external surfaces we recommend the naturale matt variant (better slip-inhibiting, water rims less visible).
Scratches and repair. Porcelain is very hard (around Mohs 7) and therefore considerably more scratch-resistant than most natural materials. Deeper damage cannot simply be re-polished – repair is carried out by replacing the affected workpiece. Particular care with edges and cut-outs is therefore required during fabrication; mitred joints should be executed by experienced specialist firms with special adhesive.
