About CTX BasicKeramik® ABK Base Ash

Base Ash is a surface for planners who need calm. The colour tone moves between ash grey, a light grey and a slightly powdery neutral tone. There is no conspicuous veining, no strong clouding and no decorative overstatement. That is precisely why the material works so well in contemporary interiors in which furniture, light and architecture are to be precisely matched to one another.

As a ceramic surface from the Italian ABK environment, Base Ash is non-porous and very easy to care for in interior fit-out. Unlike grey natural stone there is no geological scatter, but a deliberately controlled, homogeneous surface. That is an advantage precisely with larger floor and wall fields, because the room appears calmer and details such as joints, junctions and built-in furniture can be ordered more clearly.

Finishes

CTX BasicKeramik® ABK Base Ash is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Naturale matt

A standard finish in the matte ceramic segment — the original surface as it comes out of the kiln. Level in appearance, but somewhat rougher to the touch than polished. Easy to maintain, insensitive to scratches and stain-resistant — the most everyday-capable ceramic finish for kitchen worktops, wall cladding and floor areas.

Care & fabrication

Base Ash needs no impregnation. The ceramic surface is dense, insensitive to acid and made for easy-care interior applications.

For cleaning and care, water, mild cleaners and a soft cloth or a clean mop are enough. On lighter grey tones, films of dirt and limescale should be removed regularly.

Aggressive special chemicals and abrasive pads are as a rule unnecessary. What is decisive is regular, gentle cleaning and care.

For heavily used floors, the right choice of surface is more important than elaborate care. Matt and grippy versions are often the better decision there.
