CTX BasicKeramik® ABK Atlantis Smoke

CTX BasicKeramik® ABK Atlantis Smoke is a large-format porcelain slab from the Italian ABK Group, from the Atlantis quartzite-look collection, distributed by ROSSITTIS under the house brand CTX BasicKeramik. The slab shows a mid-grey dimension-stone base tone with characteristic diagonal darker grey veins and subtle smoky, cloudy honing structures – stylistically a quotation of Italian Pietra Piasentina and quartzite dimension stone. At ROSSITTIS we fabricate Atlantis Smoke into heat- and acid-proof kitchen worktops, islands, internal floors, wall claddings, bathroom fit-outs, external floor coverings, pool surrounds and façade elements with a modern quartzite-look effect.

A large-format porcelain slab (sintered stone / porcelain ceramic) from the Italian ABK Group (Solignano, province of Modena, Emilia-Romagna), from the Atlantis quartzite-look collection. CTX BasicKeramik® is the ROSSITTIS house brand for this ABK line – with permanently constant stock availability, uniform fabrication and attractive terms. The slab is fully mineral through-sintered (not engineered quartz, not natural stone), and therefore heat-proof, acid-proof, UV-stable and suitable for external use. The “Atlantis Smoke” variant shows a medium smoke-grey dimension-stone base tone with characteristic diagonal veins – stylistically a quotation of the Italian Pietra Piasentina dimension stone and of grey quartzite sortings.

About CTX BasicKeramik® ABK Atlantis Smoke

Background. CTX BasicKeramik® is the house brand of ROSSITTIS GmbH for large-format porcelain slabs – produced in Italy by the ABK Group, one of the largest European manufacturers of technical fine ceramics, based in Solignano (province of Modena, Emilia-Romagna). The Atlantis collection within the ABK programme line is one of the manufacturer's natural-stone-based quartzite-look lines – inspired by classic Italian and Brazilian quartzites with characteristic veining and a mineral dimension-stone appearance. “Smoke” denotes the smoky mid-grey tonal variant within the Atlantis family.

Finishes

CTX BasicKeramik® ABK Atlantis Smoke is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Naturale matt

A standard finish in the matte ceramic segment — the original surface as it comes out of the kiln. Level in appearance, but somewhat rougher to the touch than polished. Easy to maintain, insensitive to scratches and stain-resistant — the most everyday-capable ceramic finish for kitchen worktops, wall cladding and floor areas.

Care & fabrication

Cleaning. In everyday use, warm water, a soft cloth or a clean mop and a neutral to slightly alkaline pH cleaner are sufficient. Suitable are mild all-purpose cleaners, mild washing-up liquid foam and all commercially available sanitary and kitchen cleaners without hydrofluoric acid (HF). The porcelain is almost completely acid-proof – even vinegar, citric and hydrochloric acid practically do not attack the slab. Take up spilt liquids promptly, because on the mid-grey surface dried drops with dark pigment (coffee, red wine, black tea) can remain visible as lighter films; the material itself, however, is non-porous and therefore stain-proof.

Do not use. Hydrofluoric acid (HF) and fluoride-containing cleaners are the only class of substance that can genuinely attack porcelain – they occur practically only in industrial glass and stone cleaners and are not relevant in the household.

Sealing. Not required – porcelain is dense and non-porous in itself, water absorption is below 0.1 %.

Naturale matt surface. The naturale matt surface reacts somewhat more sensitively to greasy films and visible wiping streaks than a polished version; isolated water drops dry off less smoothly. We recommend prompt dry wiping with a soft microfibre cloth.

Mid tonal values – care notes. On a mid-grey porcelain, wiping marks remain less visible than on very dark or very light slabs – a practically relevant advantage of this tonal class for heavily used kitchen worktops and entrance floors.

Kitchen and bathroom. In kitchen and bathroom use, technically almost unbeatable: hot pots can be set down directly for a short time, acids such as vinegar, wine, lemon and tomato leave no marks, and anti-limescale sprays and all commercially available sanitary cleaners are approved.

Floor and façade. One of the classic domains of porcelain is large-format internal floors, external floor coverings and façade systems. Atlantis Smoke can be laid to certified standard with factory side-strip securing for rear-ventilated façades.

Outdoors and frost. Fully suitable. The slab is UV-stable, frost- and weather-resistant and can be used as a rear-ventilated façade panel, external wall cladding, pool surround and external floor covering.

Scratches and repair. Porcelain is very hard (around Mohs 7) and therefore markedly more scratch-resistant than most natural materials. Deeper damage cannot simply be polished out – repair is carried out by replacing the affected workpiece.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of material is CTX BasicKeramik® ABK Atlantis Smoke?

A large-format porcelain slab (sintered stone / porcelain ceramic) from the Italian ABK Group, from the Atlantis quartzite-look collection. The slab is produced in Solignano (province of Modena, Emilia-Romagna) and distributed by ROSSITTIS under the house brand CTX BasicKeramik®. Mineral raw materials (feldspar, quartz, clay minerals, pigments) are compacted in a pressing process without polymer binders and sintered above 1,200 °C in a tunnel kiln.

What does the designation “CTX BasicKeramik” mean?

CTX BasicKeramik® is the house brand of ROSSITTIS GmbH for large-format porcelain slabs in the ABK line. Under this name we bundle various ABK variants (quartzite look, marble look, concrete look, solid colour) with permanently constant stock availability, uniform fabrication and terms from our warehouse in Holzwickede.

What exactly does Atlantis Smoke look like?

A medium smoke-grey dimension-stone tone as the base tone, run through with characteristic diagonal darker grey veins and subtle smoky, cloudy honing structures – stylistically a quotation of the Italian Pietra Piasentina dimension stone (a mid-grey dimension stone from Friuli-Venezia Giulia) and of grey quartzite sortings from Brazil. From a medium distance the surface reads as a calm but animated mid-grey; from close up one discovers the fine pigmented honing structure and the diagonal vein runs.

Which slab formats and thicknesses does the Atlantis line offer?

ABK supplies the Atlantis slabs in large format. ROSSITTIS stocks Atlantis Smoke in thicknesses of 6 mm (for wall claddings, furniture fronts and bonded applications) and 12 mm (standard for internal floors, external floor coverings and kitchen worktops); further thicknesses and formats are available on request.

Is Atlantis Smoke suitable for kitchen worktops?

Yes, fully. The slab is heat-proof (hot pots can be set down directly), almost completely acid-proof (wine, vinegar, lemon, tomato leave no marks) and, at around Mohs 7, very scratch-resistant. Atlantis Smoke therefore behaves in everyday use like a premium porcelain and is optimally suited to heavily used kitchen worktops and islands. A sealer is not required.

Is Atlantis Smoke suitable for external surfaces, façades and pool surrounds?

Yes, fully. Porcelain is UV-stable, frost- and weather-resistant and can be used as a rear-ventilated façade panel, external wall cladding, pool surround and external floor covering. Atlantis Smoke can be laid to certified standard with factory side-strip securing for rear-ventilated façades.

How does CTX BasicKeramik differ from the better-known Laminam?

Both are large-format porcelain slabs from Italy with the same material logic (fully mineral through-sintered, acid-proof, heat-proof, UV-stable, suitable for external use). Laminam (System group, Fiorano Modenese) is the older and internationally better-known brand with a broader portfolio. CTX BasicKeramik® is the ROSSITTIS house brand of the ABK porcelain slabs – more attractive in price at comparable technical quality, with a programme deliberately curated by us and constant stock availability. Both options are technically equivalent; the choice depends primarily on price and variant.

Which cleaners may I use?

Permitted are warm water, all neutral, alkaline or mildly acidic cleaners, mild all-purpose cleaners and all commercially available sanitary and kitchen cleaners. The slab is almost completely acid-proof. Out of the question are exclusively hydrofluoric acid (HF) and fluoride-containing cleaners – these are not relevant in the household.

What does CTX BasicKeramik® ABK Atlantis Smoke cost?

The price depends on the format, thickness, surface finish and fabrication — there is no serious flat rate per square metre. Business customers see prices once their B2B account is activated; private customers receive a complete quote through a fabricator near them.
