CTX BasicQuarz® 0719 Frozen Lava is an engineered quartz from the ROSSITTIS house brand CTX BasicQuarz® with a dramatically cracked lava look. The slab shows a creamy bright white to light beige base tone with characteristic powerful irregular darker greenish grey veins that run like cracks through a solidified white lava layer or through a cracked sheet of ice – stylistically an allusion to frozen light lava or to a classically dramatic marble breccia. Composition around 90 – 93 % natural quartz granulate + 7 – 10 % polyester resin with incorporated pigments, compacted in the Bretonstone® process (vacuum vibro-compaction). The “0719 Frozen Lava” variant shows a creamy bright white base tone with dramatic irregular darker greenish grey crack veins – stylistically an allusion to frozen light lava or to a classically dramatic marble breccia. Important: classic polyester engineered quartz is limited in heat resistance (150 – 160 °C, no hot pots set down directly) and NOT UV-stable – it is therefore designed for internal applications and not suitable for external applications.

About CTX BasicQuarz® 0719 Frozen Lava

Background. CTX BasicQuarz® is the house brand of ROSSITTIS GmbH (Holzwickede, Germany) for engineered quartz slabs. Under this name we bundle various internationally manufactured engineered quartz variants with permanently constant stock availability, uniform fabrication and attractive terms from our warehouse in Holzwickede. The 0719 variant “Frozen Lava” belongs to the dramatically veined line and shows a strikingly unconventional look with a light base tone and powerful cracked vein runs.

CTX BasicQuarz® 0719 Frozen Lava is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

A glossy surface with the highest possible degree of colour intensity — the standard finish in the engineered stone and engineered quartz segment. Easy to care for in everyday use and resistant to common household acids. A prestigious choice for kitchen worktops, wall claddings and exposed surfaces with a classic high-gloss character.

Satin-honed

The surface is brushed — softer minerals are removed in a targeted way, creating a subtle depth and a matt appearance. Easy to care for and suited to everyday use, resistant to acids from common household substances. A popular, more matt alternative to a polish in modern kitchens and living spaces.

Care & fabrication

Cleaning. In everyday use, warm water, a soft cloth or a clean mop and a pH-neutral to slightly alkaline cleaner are sufficient. Suitable are mild all-purpose cleaners, mild washing-up liquid foam and all commercially available sanitary and kitchen cleaners without highly concentrated acids or aggressive solvents. Take up spilt liquids promptly – the material is non-porous, but on the light surface dried drops with dark pigment (coffee, red wine, black tea) remain behind as visible films.

Do not use. Highly concentrated acids (industrial glass cleaners, HF-containing wheel cleaners, high-concentration acid descalers), strong solvents (acetone, methylene chloride, brush cleaner), aggressive alkaline industrial cleaners as well as abrasive pastes or scouring sponges. These can locally dissolve the polyester resin matrix or scour the polished surface matt.

Sealing. Not required – the surface is sealed in the Bretonstone process and is non-porous.

Kitchen. In kitchen use robust and easy to care for: weak household acids such as vinegar, wine, lemon and tomato leave no marks, and all commercially available washing-up liquids and all-purpose cleaners are approved. Important: do NOT set hot pots down directly – the thermal loading can cause stress cracks in the engineered quartz slab. Maximum short-term heat approx. 150 – 160 °C (dry surface); for safe operation we recommend consistently using trivets for hot pans, pots and baking trays.

Bathroom. Fully usable as a wall and floor surface, vanity top and shower – with proper waterproofing. Anti-limescale sprays and all commercially available sanitary cleaners are approved.

Light slabs with dramatic veining – particular care notes. On a light engineered quartz slab with dramatic dark veining, water rings and wiping marks become visible as lighter films in the lighter areas, and less so in the darker vein runs. The differing tonality of the areas can make wiping routines visually challenging. We recommend prompt dry wiping with a soft microfibre cloth.

Bookmatch and statement application. Frozen Lava lends itself well to bookmatch mirroring of adjacent slab pieces – the directional veining produces impressive V, X or quad bookmatch patterns. We recommend planning the slab layout before laying with our stone technology service.

Outdoors. Not recommended. Classic polyester engineered quartz (internal line) is not UV-stable – the resin matrix can yellow or fade under direct sunlight outdoors. For external applications we recommend UV-stable Beach line engineered quartz (e.g. Diresco BIO-UV) or porcelain (Laminam, CTX BasicKeramik).

Scratches and repair. At around Mohs 7, engineered quartz is very scratch-resistant. Deeper mechanical damage cannot simply be polished out – repair is carried out by replacing the affected workpiece.

What exactly does Frozen Lava look like?

A creamy bright white to light beige dimension-stone base tone with dramatic, powerful, irregular darker greenish grey to dark grey-brown veins that run like cracks through a solidified lava surface. Here and there, subtle light grey cement-like lightenings appear between the veins. The veining runs through in a net-like manner and is dramatic in design terms.

May hot pots be set down directly on Frozen Lava?

No. Like all classic engineered quartz materials, Frozen Lava has a heat resistance limited by the polyester component – maximum short-term heat approx. 150 – 160 °C (dry surface). Hot pots, pans or baking trays can cause thermal stress cracks and should consistently be used with trivets. Anyone who needs a fully heat-proof surface (being able to set hot pots down directly) should switch to a porcelain such as CTX BasicKeramik or Laminam.

Is Frozen Lava suitable for external applications?

No. Classic polyester engineered quartz is NOT UV-stable – the resin matrix can yellow or fade under direct sunlight outdoors. For external applications with an engineered quartz character we recommend UV-stable Beach line engineered quartz materials (e.g. Diresco BIO-UV); for external floor coverings, pool surrounds and façades, porcelain (Laminam, CTX BasicKeramik) is the optimal choice.

Is Frozen Lava suitable for bookmatch laying?

Yes. The directional dramatic veining can be composed by mirroring adjacent slab pieces into impressive V, X or quad bookmatch patterns – on large wall surfaces in particular this produces dramatic symmetrical mirrorings with a net-like effect. We recommend planning the slab layout before laying with our stone technology service.

What technical values does Frozen Lava have?

Standard engineered quartz values: bulk density approx. 2,300 – 2,500 kg/m³, compressive strength 200 – 250 MPa, flexural strength 50 – 70 MPa, water absorption < 0.02 % (virtually zero), Mohs hardness approx. 7. The slab is non-porous, scratch-resistant and acid-proof against weak household acids. Heat resistance: 150 – 160 °C on a dry surface.

Which cleaners may I use?

Permitted are warm water, all pH-neutral, mildly acidic or alkaline cleaners, mild all-purpose cleaners and all commercially available sanitary and kitchen cleaners.
