Daino Reale

Daino Reale is a beige-brown Sardinian marble with a cloudy, in places lightly veined structure. At ROSSITTIS it is used for floors, stairs, wall claddings and classic bathrooms whenever a warm Italian natural stone with quiet elegance is called for.

About Daino Reale

Daino Reale is one of the warm Italian classics. The colour lies between beige, sand, pale brown and occasionally slightly rosy tones. Added to this are soft clouds, bands or restrained veins that give the stone liveliness without making it restless. That is exactly why Daino Reale works very well in classical and in contemporary interiors alike.

The stone comes from Sardinia and is traded as a marble, although geologically it is a limestone. For planning, what counts above all is its position in the market: Daino Reale is read as a warm, readily usable Italian marble. Compared with Crema Marfil it often appears somewhat more banded and more natural; compared with Bianco Perlino, warmer and more decorative. That makes it a versatile material for floors, stairwells, bathrooms and wall claddings.

Daino Reale is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Poliert

Politur ist die klassischste Veredelung für Marmor und Kalkstein — eine glänzende Oberfläche mit höchstmöglicher Farbintensität und ausgeprägter Tiefenwirkung der Aderung. Je nach mineralischer Zusammensetzung kann die Wirkung stellenweise mattglänzend sein. Säureempfindlich — Wein, Zitrone und Essig hinterlassen Ätzspuren bei längerer Einwirkung.

Care & fabrication

In kitchens, bathrooms and on heavily used floor areas, Daino Reale should be thoroughly sealed. A silane-based sealer helps to repel water, oil and dirt more effectively.

For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, a soft cloth and regular maintenance cleaning are sufficient. Vinegar cleaners, limescale removers and aggressive bathroom chemicals attack the calcareous surface.

In the kitchen, lemon juice, wine, coffee and oil should not be left standing for long. The finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block further down this page.

Outdoors, you should use Daino Reale only in sheltered positions and with sound constructional detailing. Polished surfaces are not the most robust solution there in the long term.

Is Daino Reale suitable for a kitchen?

Yes — very good in design terms, but technically with a certain care effort. With a bulk density of around 2,570 kg/m³, water absorption of about 0.324 % and a compressive strength of about 116.9 MPa the stone is solid, but it remains acid-sensitive.

How do I care for Daino Reale correctly?

For cleaning and care you should use pH-neutral natural stone cleaners and seal the surface regularly. Acidic cleaners and descalers are unsuitable.

Is Daino Reale frost-resistant?

It counts as an exterior stone only to a limited extent. It can work in sheltered external areas, but openly weathered polished applications are considerably more critical than with granite.

Daino Reale or Crema Marfil?

Daino Reale usually appears cloudier and more naturally banded. Crema Marfil is more homogeneous and somewhat more formal, but both sit within the warm marble spectrum.
