About Estremoz Typ 710

Estremoz Typ 710 belongs to the light, classic Estremoz family and shows a colour image between white, cream and soft beige-pink clouds. The structure remains soft and unagitated, which makes the stone appear very balanced over larger areas. In stairwells, floors, wall surfaces and demanding interiors in particular this is interesting where a light natural stone with warm restraint is wanted.

The stone comes from the Portuguese marble triangle Estremoz–Borba–Vila Viçosa in the Alentejo. Technically, bulk density is around 2,720 kg/m³, compressive strength around 70.2 MPa, flexural strength around 18.2 MPa and water absorption around 0.10 per cent. For an interior marble that is a good figure, but it changes nothing about the acid sensitivity. Polishing is possible, but does not last permanently on unprotected external surfaces.

Finishes

Estremoz Typ 710 is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Poliert

As a light marble, Estremoz Typ 710 should be protected with a suitable natural stone sealer. This reduces stain pick-up, but does not replace use appropriate to the material.

pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, water and soft cloths or mops are suitable for cleaning and care. Coffee, wine, oil, lemon juice, vinegar and aggressive bathroom cleaners should not be left to act unnecessarily long.

Avoid acidic cleaners, descalers and abrasive products. On light polished marbles in particular, etch marks and dull zones are quickly visible.

For surfaces that stay beautiful, the rule is: clean and care for them regularly, check the sealer, and avoid polished external surfaces wherever possible.

Frequently asked questions

Is Estremoz Typ 710 suitable for the kitchen?

Yes, in principle it is, but only with good care. As a marble, Estremoz Typ 710 remains acid-sensitive and needs a suitable sealer.

Which surfaces are available for Estremoz Typ 710?

The surface finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.

Where does Estremoz Typ 710 come from?

The stone comes from the Estremoz–Borba–Vila Viçosa region in the Alentejo in Portugal.

How do I clean Estremoz Typ 710?

pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, water and soft cloths should be used for cleaning and care. Acids and abrasive cleaners are to be avoided.

Is Estremoz Typ 710 frost-resistant?

The stone can also be used outdoors in suitable constructions, but polished surfaces are not permanently stable there. For exposed external locations, caution makes sense.

Estremoz Typ 710 or Carrara?

Estremoz Typ 710 appears warmer and more cream-coloured. Carrara is usually more grey in its figuring and cooler in character.
