Green Witch Schiefer

The stone comes from Brazil and thus stands in the tradition of Brazilian slates, which are used heavily internationally because of their density and availability. For terraces, platforms, wall claddings, kitchen splashbacks or hallways, Green Witch Slate is particularly interesting because colour, layering and technical robustness come together. Its natural cleaving direction gives it an authenticity that cannot be achieved with closed, industrial-looking surfaces.

Technically there is much in the material's favour. Bulk density is 2,750 kg/m³, water absorption about 0.29 %. For slate this is a very usable figure and supports use in interior and external areas. Slate of this kind is silicate in character and therefore considerably less sensitive to acids than marble or limestone. For floors, stairs, wall surfaces and selected working areas this is a real advantage in practice, particularly where a slip-resistant or naturally textured surface is wanted.

Riven is the most consistent surface for this stone and shows the slate structure most honestly. The surface finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block further down. Sandblasted surfaces can make sense where an evenly rough, technical image is needed.
