Jade Schiefer is a material with a natural calm. The colour moves between green, grey and earthy undertones, and the typical slate structure remains clearly recognisable. This produces a surface that appears less decorative than many green marbles, but markedly more honest, more craftsmanlike and more robust. In corridors, stairwells, terraces, wall surfaces or entrance areas, precisely this mix of colour and materiality works very well. Compared with black slate, Jade Schiefer appears lighter and softer; compared with green exotics, considerably more restrained.
The stone comes from Brazil, from Minas Gerais, an important region for dense and readily workable slates. Materials of this kind are valued indoors and out because they are independent in design terms and technically bring more everyday tolerance than calcareous rocks. Jade Schiefer is particularly suited to floor solutions, steps, plinths and wall cladding wherever a natural, non-glossy surface is wanted.
Technically the stone stands on solid ground. Bulk density is 2,720 kg/m³, flexural strength 24.3 MPa. Add to that confirmed frost resistance and normal acid resistance in construction use. For floors it is also relevant that abrasion is in the slate range and therefore well suited to ordinary use, without reaching the hardness of granite. That is precisely why Jade Schiefer works particularly well wherever texture, colour and grip matter more than maximum polishability.
Riven is the most consistent finish for this stone and shows its slate nature most honestly. The surface finishes currently held in stock are listed in the »Finishes« block further down. Brushed variants can refine the feel without losing the natural effect. At ROSSITTIS, Jade Schiefer is currently available above all for tile and floor solutions and as a skirting.
The honest assessment: Jade Schiefer is not a material for high gloss and absolute perfection. Its strength lies in character, structure and everyday durability. Anyone looking for exactly that gets a very convincing green slate here.

Jade Schiefer is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.
Jade Schiefer should be sealed above all on floors, plinths and external surfaces, so that dirt and moisture penetrate the surface less readily. This keeps the natural colour calmer and more even.
For cleaning and maintenance, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, water and — depending on the finish — a cloth, mop or soft brush are suitable. On riven surfaces, sand, soil and organic deposits should be removed regularly.
Avoid strongly film-forming maintenance products and aggressive cleaners that can leave residues in the texture. Slate is best cleaned and maintained when the surface stays open and clean.
Outdoors, clean and maintain regularly, remove leaves and early algal growth promptly, and refresh the sealer according to use. That keeps the slip-resistant surface functional and visually clean as well.
Yes. Jade Schiefer is frost-resistant and is typically used for floors, stairs, wall cladding and other external applications.

Yes, very much so for ordinary floor applications. With a bulk density of 2,720 kg/m³ and a flexural strength of 24.3 MPa the stone is robust, even though it does not reach the hardness of a granite.
Jade Schiefer appears more colourful and somewhat softer, black slate more neutral and more severe. Technically both sit in a similar, robust slate class.
