About Ice Jade
Ice Jade lives from a cool, elegant, almost translucent brightness. The base tone moves between pure white and a restrained cream white, crossed by subtle jade-like greenish or light grey shimmers and occasional darker mineral dots. Unlike the more expressive varieties of the Ice Jade family with their vigorous green play of veins, this light selection shows a calm, withdrawn effect — like cold ice with a hint of jade. It is precisely this quietness that makes the stone interesting for modern bathrooms, bookmatch wall claddings, light wall and floor areas, reception areas and prestige interior fit-outs.
Geologically, Ice Jade is a marble from the province of Yunnan in southern China. For decades the region has produced high-quality white and green-veined marbles that run internationally under several trade names: Ice Jade Marble, Ice Green Marble, Cold Jade Marble, White Beauty Marble, China Calacatta Verde, Primavera Marble and the Chinese marketing name 冷翡翠 (Lěng Fěicuì, cold jade). Geologically, the Yunnan marble deposits lie in an area where highly pure carbonate deposits were metamorphically overprinted over millions of years — the light layers are very pure calcite, the green accents come from iron- and magnesium-bearing mineral inclusions.
Technically, Ice Jade behaves like a classic high-quality white marble: bulk density 2,630 to 2,800 kg/m³, compressive strength 100 to 150 MPa, flexural strength 8 to 15 MPa, water absorption 0.10 to 0.30 %. The fine-grained, dense structure allows a very high-quality polish and gives the surface a vitreous, almost glassy sheen that reinforces the jade character. Chemically the stone remains acid-sensitive: wine, lemon juice, vinegar or acidic bathroom cleaners leave etch marks on the polished surface — visually particularly conspicuous on such a light stone.

Compared with classic Italian white marbles such as Bianco Carrara or Calacatta, Ice Jade appears cooler and more translucent — less warm and creamy, more icy and jade-like. Against the dramatic green-veined varieties of the same Yunnan family (classic Ice Jade, Ice Green Marble), this light selection brings considerably more calm and more flexibility in planning. Politur ist die klassischste Veredelung für Marmor und Kalkstein — eine glänzende Oberfläche mit höchstmöglicher Farbintensität und ausgeprägter Tiefenwirkung der Aderung. Care & fabrication
Ice Jade is an acid-sensitive marble. Wine, lemon juice, vinegar, cola, bathroom cleaners or descalers leave etch marks on the polished surface — visible as dull shadows or a loss of gloss. On such a light stone, these changes are visually particularly conspicuous.
For all applications, a silane- or polysiloxane-based sealer is mandatory. It prevents the penetration of water, oil and dyes and reduces staining — but it does not remove the acid sensitivity. On polished surfaces we recommend refreshing the sealer every 1-2 years. On light marble the sealer is doubly important: a single drop of olive oil or red wine that has soaked in can remain as a permanent dark stain.
Daily care is done with a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner and a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid vinegar cleaners, cement haze removers, acidic bathroom cleaners and strongly alkaline products. Wine, coffee, oil, lemon juice or coloured cosmetic products should not be left to act for long on polished surfaces — wipe off immediately and wipe over with clear water.
For kitchen worktops, Ice Jade is only suited with reservations. Anyone who loves the calm, light material image and accepts a patina as character can use the material. Anyone who needs maximum everyday security should choose a light quartzite such as Chantilly.
For permanently weathered external surfaces the material is not suitable. Indoors it is stable over the long term with appropriate care.

Is Ice Jade suitable for the kitchen?
With reservations. As an acid-sensitive marble with a compressive strength of 100-150 MPa, it works as a kitchen worktop only where a patina is accepted, sealing is consistent and acids are removed immediately. Anyone who loves the iconic jade-like material image can use it in show kitchens. For carefree light kitchen worktops we recommend a light quartzite such as Chantilly.

Consistently avoid acidic cleaners, descalers, vinegar and citric acid. Wipe off wine, coffee or oil immediately — on light polished marble, discolouration quickly becomes visible.
Is Ice Jade frost-resistant and suitable for outdoor use?
For permanently weathered external surfaces the material is not suitable — as a marble it reacts sensitively to de-icing salt and acidic precipitation. Indoors it is stable over the long term with appropriate care.
