About LAMINAM® Alaska

LAMINAM Alaska is a surface for projects that seek brightness without sterile emptiness. The effect is a very bright white, yet not flat: fine, irregular lines and a slight slate character give the surface structure without making it loud. This makes Alaska well suited to large bright wall compositions, kitchens, furniture surfaces and calm interior architecture. Compared with purely smooth uniform white surfaces it appears livelier; compared with heavily veined marble looks it is considerably more restrained.

In material terms this is not natural stone but a sintered ceramic surface from Laminam. That is precisely where its strength lies: very large formats, a consistent appearance and robust technical performance for architecture, interior design and furniture making. Anyone looking for a bright surface with a minimalist effect, but wishing to do without natural stones that are critical to maintain, receives a highly predictable solution here.

Finishes

LAMINAM® Alaska is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

A spacco (riven)

Inspired by the naturally riven surface of slate — the firing keeps the ceramic surface closed, yet it displays a characterful roughness. The riven-imitating texturing makes the surface appear almost natural to the eye. Easy to care for and stain-resistant — a characterful choice for designed wall and floor surfaces.

Care & fabrication

LAMINAM Alaska is easy to care for, but as a porcelain surface it should also be cleaned and cared for regularly so that the very bright surface stays calm. For everyday use, water, mild cleaning agents and soft cloths are entirely sufficient.

For cleaning and care, pH-neutral household or ceramic cleaners, water and microfibre cloths are suitable. On white surfaces, coffee, oil and coloured food residues should nevertheless not be allowed to dry on for unnecessarily long.

Avoid heavily abrasive pads and unnecessarily aggressive specialist chemicals. A ceramic surface, too, can be cleaned and cared for more attractively when it is treated gently.

On niches, furniture and working surfaces, clean and care for the material regularly and do not let fine soiling build up. That way the bright structure stays clear and clean over the long term.

Frequently asked questions

Is LAMINAM Alaska suitable for the kitchen?

Yes. As a sintered porcelain surface, LAMINAM Alaska is very well suited to kitchens, niches and furniture fronts wherever a very bright, low-maintenance surface is sought.

Which finish does LAMINAM Alaska have?

The surface finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.

What actually is LAMINAM Alaska?

LAMINAM Alaska is not a natural stone slab but a large-format sintered porcelain surface. It is intended for architecture, furniture and interior fit-out.

How do I clean LAMINAM Alaska correctly?

For cleaning and care, water, mild cleaning agents and soft cloths are sufficient. Colouring substances and grease should nevertheless be removed promptly on very bright surfaces.

Can LAMINAM Alaska also be used on the wall?

Yes. As a calm, bright wall cladding or furniture surface in particular, Alaska plays to its strengths very well.

LAMINAM Alaska or white marble?

White marble appears more natural and more individual, but is more critical to maintain. LAMINAM Alaska is more predictable, more technical and considerably more relaxed in everyday use.

What does LAMINAM® Alaska cost?

The price depends on the format, thickness, surface finish and fabrication — there is no serious flat rate per square metre. Business customers see prices once their B2B account is activated; private customers receive a complete quote through a fabricator near them.
