About Perla Beige

Perla Beige owes its name to its appearance: a warm, cream-beige ground tone with fine, almost mother-of-pearl-like shimmering sections and occasional lighter veins. The slab appearance is calm and elegant — not an expressive play of veins, but a homely Mediterranean appearance with discreet depth. It is precisely this quietness that makes the stone interesting for Mediterranean bathrooms, wall claddings, large floor surfaces, reception areas and prestigious interiors in which a warm beige natural stone with classic elegance is called for.

Geologically, Perla Beige is a dense, polishable limestone from Turkish deposits. Limestones form from marine carbonate deposits that were consolidated over millions of years — the fine-grained, closed structure permits a very high-quality polish, which is why the material is listed in many ranges as a “beige marble”, although it behaves like a classic polished limestone.

Care & fabrication

Perla Beige is an acid-sensitive limestone. Wine, lemon juice, vinegar, cola, sanitary cleaners or descalers leave etch marks on the material surface — visible as matt shadows or a loss of gloss. On a stone this light, such changes are visually particularly conspicuous.

For all applications an impregnation on a silane or polysiloxane basis is mandatory. It prevents the penetration of water, oil and colouring agents and reduces the formation of stains — but it does not remove the acid sensitivity. We recommend renewing the impregnation every 1-2 years.

Daily care is carried out with a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner and a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid vinegar cleaners, cement veil removers, acidic sanitary cleaners and strongly alkaline agents. Wine, coffee, oil, lemon and cosmetic products should not be left to act on the material surface for long.

For kitchen worktops Perla Beige is only suitable to a limited extent — acids from everyday cooking can leave a visible patina.

For permanently weathered external surfaces the material is only suitable to a limited extent. Indoors it is stable over the long term given appropriate care.

Is Perla Beige suitable for the kitchen?

Only to a limited extent. As an acid-sensitive limestone it works only where the patina is accepted, the impregnation is consistent and acids are removed immediately. For carefree light kitchen worktops we recommend a warm-toned quartzite.

How do I clean and care for Perla Beige?

Impregnation is mandatory. Daily care with a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner and a microfibre cloth. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners. Wipe up wine, coffee or lemon immediately.

Is Perla Beige frost-resistant and suitable for outdoors?

For permanently weathered external surfaces the material is only suitable to a limited extent — as a limestone it reacts sensitively to de-icing salt and acidic precipitation. Indoors it is the clearly better choice.

Perla Beige or Crema Marfil — which suits better?

Both are polishable Mediterranean limestones with a similar care requirement. Perla Beige appears somewhat more elegant and cooler through its discreet shimmer, Crema Marfil warmer and creamier with more pronounced vein markings. For modern Mediterranean rooms with a calm brightness, Perla Beige is the better choice.

What does Perla Beige cost?
