Background. Caesarstone® is the Israeli premium brand for surface materials, founded in 1987 at Kibbutz Sdot Yam and today present worldwide. The manufacturer's range holds three clearly separated product lines: the historical Quartz Surfaces line in engineered quartz (around 90 % quartz particles + 7 – 10 % polyester resin), the Mineral™ line launched in 2024 as a low-silicosis-risk further development, and the Lioli Porcelain line in fully mineral, through-sintered large-format porcelain. Thalassa (code 546) belongs to the Lioli Porcelain line – in the Caesarstone code system this is the Supernatural Collection with nature-inspired surface designs.
Material build-up and manufacture. A Caesarstone Lioli porcelain slab consists of practically 100 % mineral raw materials – feldspar, quartz, clay minerals and pigments – without polymer binders. The mixture is compacted in a pressing process, provided with decorated pigment layers for the surface appearance and then sintered at temperatures above 1,200 °C in a tunnel kiln. In this sintering, the mineral particles partly fuse into a closed crystalline mineral structure – the end product is a fully mineral, through-sintered slab without any resin content. From this arise decisive technical advantages over Caesarstone's own Quartz Surfaces line: very high heat resistance (hot pots can be set down directly), full UV resistance and hence suitability for external use, frost resistance and almost complete acid resistance.
Appearance. The base tone is a warm sandy cream beige to light beige-pink dimension-stone beige with a subtle golden shimmer and sandy warm undertones. Fine granular mineral structures with subtle lighter and darker tonal points are distributed evenly across the surface, giving the slab a calm Mediterranean sandy-beach appearance. Here and there, delicate, barely visible fossil-like structures can be made out, which look like very finely integrated shell or coral fragments. From a medium distance the variant appears almost single-coloured in a warm, creamy, sandy tone; from close up one discovers the fine pigmented dimension-stone structure. Stylistically, Thalassa is an allusion to a Mediterranean sandy beach (the Greek word “Thalassa” that gives it its name means sea) or to warm travertine and dimension-stone limestone variants with a calm, fossil-integrated appearance.
Formats and thicknesses. Caesarstone Lioli supplies the slabs in the jumbo format 1,600 × 3,200 mm in thicknesses of 6, 12 and 20 mm. The 6 mm slab is particularly suited to wall claddings, furniture fronts and bonded applications, the 12 mm slab is the standard thickness for wall and floor, and the 20 mm slab is standard for kitchen worktops and heavily used floor applications. Thermal and chemical properties. Unlike Caesarstone's Quartz Surfaces line, there is no polyester resin here – which removes the typical weaknesses: Thalassa is heat-proof (hot pots can be set down directly, the slab is insensitive well above 200 °C), almost completely acid-proof (wine, lemon, tomato, vinegar leave no marks) and fully UV-stable (suitable for external use). Frost and weather resistance are given. Water absorption: very low (below 0.1 %, as is typical of porcelain).
Certificates. Caesarstone Lioli is GREENGUARD Gold certified (very low VOC emissions, suitable for schools and care facilities), approved for direct food contact to NSF and EU Food Contact, and produced under environmental management to ISO 14001.

Compared with genuine warm beige dimension stones such as Bateig Diamante (Spanish calcarenite), Apulia Beige (southern Italian limestone) or Crema Marfil (Spanish marble), Thalassa is predictable and plannable with full acid resistance – the natural stone originals appear geologically more authentic, but are acid-sensitive (calcitic) and require sealing. Within the large-format porcelain market, Thalassa competes with Laminam (Italian), Neolith (Spanish), Dekton (Cosentino group, Spanish) and SapienStone (Italian).
Frank assessment. Thalassa is the ideal choice for any application calling for a calm Mediterranean sandy dimension-stone appearance together with technical capability. The variant works particularly strongly as a kitchen worktop and island in warm Mediterranean kitchen schemes, as an outdoor kitchen surface, as a bathroom fit-out in elegant wellness areas and as a wall cladding in light-filled living spaces. Anyone looking for more dramatic veining should reach for Caesarstone Lioli Calacatta-oriented variants or for Opal Taj; anyone who prefers an authentic, acid-sensitive dimension-stone limestone with individual batch variation should switch to Bateig Diamante or Apulia Beige.
