About Diamant G

Diamant G is not about veins but about light. The grey ground is densely interspersed with fine mica flakes that flash with every step and every change of light — hence the name. Depending on the sun and the light source, the surface plays into greenish, silvery or slightly violet tones. The structure is largely non-directional, the overall picture calm and even.

Geologically, Diamant G is a quartzite from South Africa: a metamorphic, very quartz-rich rock transformed from sandstone under pressure and heat. Quartzites of this origin have for decades been among the most frequently laid natural stone floors in Germany. In the trade the material is also known as Springbok Diamant, Glitterstone or Brillant Quarzit.

Finishes

Diamant G is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Riven

The surface corresponds to a natural cleft of the stone — a matt, rough character with high slip safety and a natural effect. Recommended for outdoor areas, wall facings and heavily used paved surfaces. The slab thickness can vary slightly because of the riven, split-face working.

Care & fabrication

As a quartzite, Diamant G is acid-insensitive and easy to care for. For daily cleaning, clear water and a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner are enough; on riven surfaces a soft scrubbing brush works better than a microfibre cloth.

Impregnation is not essential, but in kitchens and entrances it makes cleaning easier, because it slows oil and grease from penetrating the open riven surface.

Use pressure washers only at a distance and with a flat jet, so that no mica flakes are loosened from the surface.

With clear water and a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner, on riven surfaces ideally with a soft scrubbing brush. Acidic cleaners do not harm the quartzite, but they are not necessary.
