Background. Diresco Stone NV is a Belgian family business, founded in 1989 in Opglabbeek (province of Limburg, Belgium) and one of the European pioneers of engineered quartz production. Diresco has made a particular name for itself with the development of BIO-UV technology: engineered quartz with a partly bio-based resin matrix and UV-stable pigment systems which, unlike classic polyester engineered quartz, remain colour-stable outdoors as well. The Beach line (with the AU3xx codes) is Diresco's outdoor-approved premium line – “Beach Iceberg” (AU300) is the coolest, lightest, most ice-white selection within this line.
Material build-up and manufacture. Beach Iceberg consists of around 93 % natural quartz granulate (sieved by grain size) and around 7 % BIO-UV resin with pigments worked into it. The mixture is pressed into slabs by the Bretonstone® process (vacuum vibro-compaction under vacuum) and subsequently cured. The BIO-UV resin matrix differs from classic polyester resin in two properties: a higher proportion of partly bio-based raw materials (a reduced CO₂ footprint) and UV stabilisation (no yellowing or fading under solar radiation). This makes Beach Iceberg – in contrast to classic engineered quartz slabs – approved for external applications too, such as outdoor kitchens, external floor coverings, pool surrounds and façades.
Appearance. The base tone is a cool ice-white to very light grey-white material tone with a subtle blue undertone (in contrast to warm creamy whites). Finely granular quartz granulate in grain sizes of 1 – 3 mm is evenly distributed across the surface – the grains appear as light grey, mid-grey and occasionally dark grey speckles on an ice-white ground. From medium distance the surface appears calm and almost monochrome cool white; close up, the fine sandy, sugary granulate structure is discovered. The selection shows no veining, no fluid sweeps and no marble quotations – it lives from the clear, technically precise, evenly granular impression of a cool material white.
Slab format and thicknesses. Diresco supplies Beach Iceberg in the standard format 318 × 155 cm (jumbo) in thicknesses of 12, 20 and 30 mm. The 12 mm slab is particularly suited to wall claddings, bathroom fit-outs and composite applications, the 20 mm slab is standard for kitchen worktops, and the 30 mm slab is for particularly heavily loaded applications or for a look with a greater slab thickness.
Technical properties. Beach Iceberg is non-porous (a sealed Bretonstone surface), scratch-resistant (through the high quartz content), resistant to cutting, with high compressive and flexural strength and, thanks to the BIO-UV resin matrix, UV-stable. Heat resistance: a dry surface up to approx. 160 °C – hot pots should nevertheless not be set down directly, because thermal stresses can cause stress cracks. Frost resistance is given through the non-porous structure. The surface is acid-resistant to weak household acids (vinegar, wine, lemon, tomato) – highly concentrated acids or alkaline industrial cleaners can locally dissolve the resin matrix.
Warranty. Diresco grants a 10-year factory warranty on Beach Iceberg for both commercial and private applications.

Comparison. Within the Diresco Beach line, Beach Iceberg positions itself as the coolest, lightest, calmest selection. Related Beach selections are Beach Bali (warm sand beige), Beach Marbella (creamy and warm) and Beach Sandy Lane (sandy and natural). Compared with classic polyester engineered quartz such as Caesarstone Quartz Surfaces or Silestone, Beach Iceberg is suitable for outdoor use thanks to the BIO-UV resin matrix – that is the essential technical differentiator. Compared with porcelain (Laminam, Neolith, Dekton, Caesarstone Lioli), Beach Iceberg remains engineered quartz with the heat restriction typical of polyester (160 °C) and is not quite as scratch- and acid-resistant as fully mineral, through-sintered slabs. Within the ice-white material family, Divinity White is a somewhat more brilliant, glassier white relative; porcelain selections such as Calacatta Bianco have a similarly cool white effect with a different material logic.
A frank assessment. Beach Iceberg is the optimal choice for any application where a cool ice-white, evenly granular material effect and a seamless transition between internal and external application are wanted. The selection works particularly strongly as a kitchen worktop and island in modern kitchen concepts, as an outdoor kitchen worktop (which classic polyester engineered quartz cannot do), as a wall cladding in bathroom fit-outs and as a pool surround. Anyone looking for a warm creamy beige tone should reach for Beach Bali or Marbella; anyone who needs absolute heat resistance for hot pots set down directly should switch to a porcelain; anyone who wants dramatic veining should switch to marble-quoting selections such as Caesarstone Lioli or to genuine natural stone.
