Cleaning. In everyday use, warm water, a soft cloth or a clean mop and a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner are sufficient. Mild all-purpose cleaners, mild washing-up foam and all commercially available bathroom and kitchen cleaners are suitable. Take up spilled liquids promptly – the material is acid-proof, but on the polished surface dried droplets with dark pigment (coffee, red wine, black tea) remain behind as visible films.
Do not use. Strongly acidic special cleaners (HF-containing wheel cleaners, industrial glass cleaners), aggressive scouring sponges or abrasive pastes. Even though quartzite is chemically extremely resistant, scratching cleaning products can scour the polished surface matt.
Sealing. Recommended, but not obligatory. Eclipse has a water absorption of 0.1 – 0.3 % and is dense in itself. A premium sealer with silane-/siloxane-based stone protection makes handling grease, oil, wine and coffee easier on kitchen worktops – pigment uptake is reduced and cleaning is simplified. With strongly mineral-rich water, sealing is particularly advisable, because the pale areas of the slab are more prone to visible limescale films.
Kitchen and bathroom. In kitchen and bathroom use it is technically exceptionally robust: hot pots can be set down directly on the untreated slab for a short time – on sealed surfaces we nevertheless recommend a trivet, because very high temperatures can locally break down the sealer. Acids such as vinegar, wine, lemon and tomato leave no traces; anti-limescale sprays and all commercially available bathroom cleaners are approved. With Mohs 6 – 7, quartzite is one of the most scratch-resistant natural materials.
Book-matching and statement applications. Eclipse is frequently used in book-matched mirroring – the fluid storm movement of the veining produces impressive V-, X- or quad book-match patterns. We recommend planning the slab layout before installation with our stone engineering service.
Dramatic black-and-white slabs – special care notes. On a black-and-white striped natural stone slab, wiping marks show up in the pale bands as light films and in the dark bands as dark shadows – the differing tonality of the bands can make wiping routines visually challenging. On dark kitchen worktops, a consistent follow-up wiping routine with a soft microfibre cloth is advisable.

Scratches and repair. With Mohs 6 – 7, quartzite is extremely scratch-resistant. Deeper damage or dull patches on polished slabs can be locally reworked by re-polishing with diamond pastes – this work belongs in the hands of a specialised stonemason or joint-technology firm. Eclipse should be seen as a high-quality statement stone with individual batch selection – every slab is unique.
