As a Brazilian gneiss of the granite family, Blue Fantasy is decidedly easy to maintain. Indoors, warm water with a pH-neutral stone cleaning product is enough for daily cleaning; aggressive household cleaners, citric-acid descalers and abrasive sponges are unnecessary and should be avoided. On polished kitchen worktops, a sealer using a solvent-based product suitable for dark hard rocks is advisable after installation and every 2 to 3 years thereafter, in order to reduce the uptake of oil, grease and intensely coloured foods over the long term. With the dark material signature, water droplet rings and pigment stains are less visible than on pale stones, and a proper sealer mitigates this risk further. Soiling should nonetheless be taken up promptly. Outdoors, regular cleaning with clear water and occasionally a soft brush is sufficient; where green growth appears in shaded positions, proprietary algae and moss cleaners can be used. Hot pots can be set down directly on the worktop — Blue Fantasy is heat-resistant. De-icing salt in winter does the stone no harm and can be used, but should be rinsed off thoroughly after the frost period to avoid salt crystallisation.
