Black Taurus Fusion is a Brazilian gneiss: a deep black ground crossed by flowing bands of gold, brown and crystalline white. Traded as granite — acid-resistant, heat-resistant and durable, for kitchen worktops, vanity tops and expressive wall surfaces.
Other trade names: Black Fusion, Black Taurus, Black Taurus Fusion, Fusion Black, RO-01-653
About Black Taurus Fusion
Black Taurus Fusion is not a quiet background stone. Wavy bands of gold, bronze, brown and crystalline white run across a deep black ground — the pattern recalls solidified, flowing magma. Direction, width and the share of light zones change from block to block, so no two slabs are alike. For large surfaces it is worth looking at the actual slabs in stock; where the pattern should continue across a joint, bookmatching is the answer.
Geologically, Black Taurus Fusion is a gneiss from Brazil — a metamorphic rock reshaped from older rock under high pressure and temperature. That is where its banded, moving structure comes from. Like many Brazilian gneisses, it is traded in the granite group and counts as a hard rock.
As a silicate hard rock, Black Taurus Fusion is acid-resistant: lemon, wine or vinegar leave none of the etch marks known from marble or limestone. The stone is heat-resistant and the polish lasts. As with all strongly patterned gneisses, technical values vary from batch to batch. The light, coarse-crystalline zones contain natural pores and hairline fissures, which are usually resin-filled at the factory. For heavily used floors or exterior applications we check the specific batch for the project.
At ROSSITTIS we carry Black Taurus Fusion as raw slabs. The stone shows its strength on large, continuous surfaces: kitchen islands, worktops with a raised splashback, vanity tops, wall and fireplace cladding, bar fronts. Polished it shows the greatest depth and the strongest contrast between black and gold; satin-brushed it looks calmer and fingerprints show less. The surface finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block further down.
Not to be confused with Toros Siyah: under this Turkish name (also Taurus Black), a black, white-veined marble from the Taurus Mountains is traded — petrographically a limestone. It is acid-sensitive and a different material both visually and technically. The names are similar only because »Toros« is the Turkish word for Taurus.

Black Taurus Fusion is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.
Polished
Polishing is the most classic finish in the hard stone segment — a mirror-smooth, high-gloss surface with the highest possible colour intensity and maximum depth effect in the mineral structure. As an acid-resistant silicate stone, polished granite is easy to care for and the first choice for kitchen worktops, wall claddings and prestigious exposed surfaces.
Satin-honed
The satin surface is created by brushing, which selectively removes softer minerals and gives the surface a slight depth. A matte appearance with subtle light reflection and a warm feel to the touch. Easy to maintain, insensitive to scratches and suited to everyday use — a popular alternative to a polish in modern kitchens and living spaces.
Care & fabrication
As a hard rock, Black Taurus Fusion is acid-resistant — wine, lemon, vinegar or coffee cause no etch marks. For kitchen worktops and vanity tops we still recommend an impregnating sealer: the light, coarse-crystalline zones absorb oil and grease faster than the dense black, and grease rings stand out on the dark surface.
For daily cleaning, clear warm water and a soft microfibre cloth are enough; for heavier soiling use a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner. Avoid abrasive cleaners and scouring pads — they can dull resin-filled spots in the surface.
On polished dark surfaces, limescale marks and fingerprints show more than on light stones; wiping dry regularly keeps the polish clear. The stone itself is heat-resistant, but we still recommend a trivet for very hot pots and pans, because the resin fillings in the light zones tolerate heat less well than the rock.
Frequently asked questions
Is Black Taurus Fusion a granite?
Petrographically, Black Taurus Fusion is a gneiss, a metamorphic rock from Brazil. It is traded in the granite group because, like granite, it belongs to the acid-resistant hard rocks.
Is Black Taurus Fusion the same as Toros Siyah?
No. Toros Siyah (also Taurus Black) is a black, white-veined marble from Turkey, petrographically a limestone — acid-sensitive and with a completely different slab pattern. The names are similar only because »Toros« is the Turkish word for Taurus. Black Taurus Fusion is a gneiss from Brazil.
Where does Black Taurus Fusion come from?
Black Taurus Fusion comes from Brazil. The banded pattern of black, gold, brown and white is typical of the country's strongly metamorphosed gneisses.
Is Black Taurus Fusion suitable for kitchens?
Yes. As a hard rock the stone is acid-resistant and heat-resistant; lemon, wine or vinegar leave no etch marks. An impregnating sealer protects the light zones from oil and grease stains. For very hot pots we recommend a trivet, because resin-filled spots tolerate heat less well than the rock.
Which finishes are there for Black Taurus Fusion?
The surface finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.
Can Black Taurus Fusion be used outdoors?
The polish is durable outdoors as well. Because the technical values of strongly patterned gneisses vary from batch to batch, we check the specific batch for façades and exterior paving. In practice the stone is mostly used as an eye-catcher indoors.
How do I clean and care for Black Taurus Fusion?
Clear water and a soft microfibre cloth are enough for everyday use; for heavier soiling a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner. Avoid abrasive cleaners so that resin-filled spots do not turn dull.
What does Black Taurus Fusion cost?
The price depends on the batch, thickness, surface finish and fabrication — with natural stone there is no serious flat rate per square metre. Business customers see prices once their B2B account is activated; private customers receive a complete quote through a fabricator near them.
