Equator
Equator is a white-grey Turkish marble with pronounced linear striping. At ROSSITTIS it is used for wall claddings, floors, stairs and exclusive bathrooms wherever a graphic black-and-white effect with a clear direction is wanted.

Equator is one of those marbles that are recognised immediately by their pattern. The base colour is white to light grey, over which parallel dark to mid-grey lines run, often in a very clear direction. This makes the stone look almost drawn, almost graphic. For projects that need a precise, direction-emphasising surface, that is a great advantage. For entirely calm surfaces, on the other hand, it is deliberately not intended.
The stone comes from Turkey, more precisely from the Marmara region, and belongs to the family of striped marbles. Compared with classic Carrara, Equator is considerably stricter and more linear; compared with Panda White it is usually more ordered and less wild. This makes it particularly suitable for wall compositions across several slabs, for bathrooms, reception zones and stairs where the laying direction is factored into the design.
Technically, Equator has a bulk density of around 2,730 kg/m³, water absorption of about 0.20 %, a compressive strength between roughly 70.3 and 117 MPa and a flexural strength of around 11.08 MPa. The range in compressive strength is connected with the directional structure. That is precisely why, for load-bearing or heavily used applications, not only the appearance but also the orientation of the veining within the slab should be taken into account. As a carbonate marble, Equator is acid-sensitive and demands the same care as other high-quality white and grey marbles.
The surface finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block further down. At ROSSITTIS, Equator is available as a raw slab, in tiles, as tread and riser, window sill, skirting, vanity top and for large-format wall claddings as well as kitchen and bathroom projects.
The honest assessment: Equator is a design stone. If direction, joint pattern and slab run are not cleanly planned, it quickly loses its effect. When the design is right, it is one of the strongest graphic marbles in the range.

Guide values for the stone type, taken from manufacturer and test reports. Natural stone is a natural product — individual batches and slabs can differ. For critical applications, request slab-specific test data.
Equator is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.
Equator should always be well sealed in the bathroom, in the kitchen and on polished surfaces. That reduces the penetration of moisture and coloured liquids, but does not replace careful use.
pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, little water and a soft microfibre cloth are suitable for cleaning and care. Acidic cleaners, limescale removers and aggressive kitchen chemicals are to be avoided.
In the kitchen, lemon juice, wine, coffee and oil should be removed promptly. On light, polished surfaces, etch marks and stains can catch the eye more quickly than on darker marbles.
Care of the joints and of the installation build-up also matters. Particularly with strongly directional materials, a technically clean surface looks considerably more refined in the long run.
Yes, as an exclusive worktop or splashback Equator is possible. With around 2,730 kg/m³ bulk density and about 0.20 % water absorption it is dense enough, but as a marble it remains acid-sensitive.

Equator comes from Turkey, from the Marmara region. It is one of the well-known striped Turkish marbles.
For cleaning and care you should use pH-neutral natural stone cleaners and avoid acidic products. Good sealing is particularly worthwhile in the kitchen and bathroom.
It can be used outdoors if the construction, surface and detailed planning are right. For permanently low-maintenance external paving, however, harder rocks are often simpler.
Equator usually appears more linear and more ordered. Panda White is more strongly contrasted and altogether more dramatic in its image.
