Rosa Bellissimo comes from the marble quarry district rich in tradition around the town of Yatağan in the province of Muğla in south-western Turkey — a region that ranks among the most significant marble suppliers of the eastern Mediterranean and has been exporting marble into the Mediterranean basin for millennia. The Aegean Muğla marble region supplies an exceptionally varied palette of white and warm-toned marble varieties, of which Rosa Bellissimo is one of the elegant, restrained representatives with a discreet warm rosé accentuation. The marketing name “Bellissimo” — Italian for “the most beautiful” — as well as the alternative name “Rosa Aphrodite” point to the high-quality, luxurious character of this marble and to the ancient Mediterranean tradition in which white to delicately rosé-toned marbles have been regarded since Greek classical antiquity as the ideal of a fine sculptural and architectural material.
Geologically it is a crystalline metamorphic marble that arose from an original limestone of the Tethys carbonate platform under high pressure and high temperatures. In contrast to limestones with their still recognisable fossil structures, the metamorphosed marble shows a homogeneous, crystalline granular microstructure — under metamorphism the calcite crystals have been reformed into a dense mosaic of fine, interlocking crystals. The delicate rosé tone of Rosa Bellissimo arises from small admixtures of iron oxide and manganese-bearing mineral components that were embedded in specific layers of the original limestone formation and carry the colouring through the metamorphism. The variability of the rosé tones — from barely perceptible cream-beige pink to distinctly peach-coloured accents — arises from the exact position within the original block.
Visually, Rosa Bellissimo is marked by a restrained, elegant, calm material signature. The ground tone is a light, warm cream-white to ivory-coloured white with a fine crystalline microstructure, run through with subtle, softly contoured lines of movement and clouding in warm cream-beige, peach-coloured and delicate rosé tones. Technically, Rosa Bellissimo belongs to the high-quality Mediterranean marbles with the typical properties of crystalline carbonate rocks: bulk density around 2,720 kg/m³, compressive strength between 50 and 101 MPa (variable according to block and test method, mean value about 76 MPa), flexural strength between 14 and 20 MPa, water absorption of only 0.17 % — a remarkably low value for a marble, which qualifies the stone for demanding internal and cautious external applications. The low water absorption gives the stone better care properties and a wider field of use than softer marbles. Like all carbonate marbles, Rosa Bellissimo is acid-sensitive and reacts to citric acid, vinegar, wine and acidic cleaners with matt etching — this sensitivity must be taken into account in bathrooms and kitchens as well as on external surfaces with pronounced exposure to acidic precipitation.

Polished
Polishing is the most classic finish for marble and limestone — a glossy surface with the highest possible colour intensity and a pronounced depth to the veining. Depending on the mineral composition, the effect can be matte-gloss in places. Acid-sensitive — wine, lemon and vinegar leave etch marks after prolonged contact.
Care & fabrication
As a crystalline marble, Rosa Bellissimo is acid-sensitive, though technically, thanks to its low water absorption of 0.17 %, a robust representative of its material class. Indoors, use exclusively warm water with a pH-neutral stone cleaning agent for daily cleaning — acidic household cleaners, vinegar, citric-acid descalers or other acidic substances cause matt etched patches that can only be reversed by professional re-polishing. Take up spilled acidic liquids promptly with clear water. A professional sealing treatment after installation and again every 2 to 3 years is recommended indoors, in order to reduce the absorption of pigments (red wine, coffee, olive oil) — on the light, delicately rosé-toned ground, pigment stains are particularly clearly visible, which is why the prompt removal of spilled substances is especially important. In the bathroom, drops of water should be squeegeed off after showering in order to avoid water marks — the warm tonality of Rosa Bellissimo shows limescale-bearing water particularly clearly and should therefore not be left standing. On wall claddings, regular dusting and occasional wiping with a damp cloth is sufficient. Outdoors, the avoidance of road salt in winter must be observed — chloride-free de-icing agents are the gentler alternative. Under acidic precipitation a matt patina can develop over long periods; outdoors a constructionally protected application (under cover) is therefore to be recommended.
