About Dover White Light

Dover White Light shows a bright white ground overlaid with gently curving grey bands and cloudy veining. The pattern mostly runs in one direction and looks calm and flowing, sometimes delicate, sometimes with stronger grey banding. Polished, it creates a bright, elegant surface with lively movement. As with all natural stone, the look varies from block to block; for continuous surfaces and bookmatched walls we recommend selecting slabs in our yard.

Dover White Light is a marble from Turkey. In the trade it is also offered as Turkish Calacatta Dolomite, which points to a dolomitic content. A Namibian marble is also traded under the name Dover White; our material comes from Turkey. Like every marble it is acid-sensitive and intended mainly for interiors.

Finishes

Dover White Light is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

Polishing is the most classic finish for marble and limestone — a glossy surface with the highest possible colour intensity and a pronounced depth to the veining. Depending on the mineral composition, the effect can be matte-gloss in places. Acid-sensitive — wine, lemon and vinegar leave etch marks after prolonged contact.

Care & fabrication

Dover White Light is a marble and therefore acid-sensitive: wine, lemon juice, vinegar, cola or descaling cleaners leave dull etch marks that are particularly visible on the light surface. Wipe up spills immediately. We recommend sealing after installation; it protects against water and oil stains, but not against acid. For daily care, warm water, a soft cloth and a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner are sufficient. The stone is not intended for weathered outdoor surfaces. Which cleaners may I use?

Warm water and pH-neutral natural stone cleaners. Vinegar and citric cleaners, descalers, anti-limescale sprays and abrasive pads are off-limits.
