About Fevi Stone Schiefer
Fevi Stone is not a quiet background stone. The material lives from warm brown, rust, copper and red nuances, joined by a distinctly riven surface with a lively play of light. It is precisely this mixture that makes the stone interesting for wall cladding, treads, floor surfaces and design accents where natural stone is meant to read as tangible rather than slick. Compared with evenly dark slate, Fevi Stone reads as markedly more expressive and more colourful.
Geologically this is a phyllitic slate from India, that is, a finely bedded metamorphic rock with a clear cleavage structure. In the trade the material is nonetheless carried simply as slate, because it is precisely this property that determines fabrication and perception. The cleavage is an advantage in design terms, but at the same time it demands respect in the detail: edges, direction of run and the overall surface composition should be planned deliberately.
Technically, Fevi Stone is of interest above all as a wall and floor material with a natural surface. The structure provides grip and a very authentic look. At the same time the material remains more sensitive than granite or quartzite, particularly to strong acids and alkaline cleaners. For kitchen worktops, slate of this kind makes only limited sense; for walls, stairs, bathrooms and accented floor surfaces, on the other hand, it is often highly convincing. What is decisive is honest planning according to material character rather than to a wished-for image.

The honest assessment: Fevi Stone is not a neutral universal stone. Anyone seeking absolute uniformity, minimal maintenance and maximum chemical resilience should reach for ceramic or a hard rock. But anyone who wants a warm, characterful slate with a distinctly natural surface gets exactly that here.

Riven, calibrated
Like riven (a naturally split, rough matte surface), additionally with a calibrated reverse: the underside of the slab is ground level for an even thickness and simplified installation. Recommended for outdoor areas, paving and bonded façade applications that demand precise dimensional accuracy.

The surface corresponds to a natural splitting of the rock — the layered characteristic typical of slate comes fully into its own. A matt, rough appeal with high slip safety and an originally natural effect. Recommended for outdoor areas, wall claddings and heavily used paved surfaces.
Care & fabrication
Fevi Stone should be sealed after installation, above all on floor surfaces, in bathrooms and in all horizontal applications. Slate of this kind is robust enough for many uses, but it reacts sensitively to aggressive chemicals.
For cleaning and care, use pH-neutral natural stone cleaners exclusively. Acidic cleaners, strongly alkaline products and cement-dissolving agents are unsuitable for this stone.

For kitchens and bathrooms the rule is: remove water, oil, soap and colouring agents as promptly as possible. Not because the stone is fragile in the breakable sense, but because textured slate surfaces hold dirt more visibly.
