About Karina

Karina works through a calm grey-beige ground tone with an even mineral structure. The slab image is restrained and flexible in planning terms — not an expressive play of veins but a homogeneous surface that combines well with other materials. It is precisely this legibility that makes the stone interesting for large floor surfaces, stairs, façades and prestige interiors in which the natural stone is meant to be background rather than lead player.

Geologically, Karina comes from Indian deposits and is assigned in the natural stone trade to the granite family. With a Mohs hardness of around 6 the material lies in the classic hard stone range — acid-resistant, with very low water absorption and reliable frost resistance.

Poliert

Politur ist die klassischste Veredelung im Hartgesteinsegment — eine spiegelglatte, hochglänzende Oberfläche mit höchstmöglicher Farbintensität und maximaler Tiefenwirkung der Mineralstruktur. Als säurebeständiges Silikatgestein ist polierter Granit pflegeleicht und für Küchenarbeitsplatten, Wandverkleidungen und repräsentative Sichtflächen erste Wahl.

Care & fabrication

As a hard stone, Karina is fully acid-resistant — wine, lemon, vinegar, coffee or descaler leave no etch marks. That is the decisive difference from marble and limestone and makes the material easy to care for in kitchen, bathroom and outdoors.

For kitchen worktops and vanity units we recommend a one-off silane- or polysiloxane-based sealer. It prevents oil- and grease-type soiling from penetrating and makes daily cleaning easier. For interior wall and floor surfaces a sealer is optional.

Daily care is carried out with clear warm water and a soft microfibre cloth. For heavier soiling, use a pH-neutral natural stone cleaner. Hot pots and pans can be set down directly — hard stones are heat-resistant.

Outdoors, Karina is frost-proof and stable over the long term without further protective measures. Rinse off road salt, pollen or leaves with clear water in spring; a stone cleaner once or twice a year is enough.

Karina or grey granite — which fits better?

Both are technically similar in resilience. Karina appears warmer and more homely through its ground tone playing towards beige, while classic grey granites such as Padang are cooler and more neutral. For rooms with warm material combinations, Karina fits better.
