About Konya Black

Konya Black belongs to the black stones that work not through grain or effects but through calm and depth. The surface reads as dark to deep black, in places with very fine lighter lines or restrained movement. That makes the stone more elegant and softer than a black granite, and at the same time considerably more restrained than many decorative black marbles. For bathrooms, wall surfaces, vanity tops and selected floors that can be very convincing.

The stone comes from Turkey and geologically belongs to the limestone family. In the natural stone trade, however, Konya Black is clearly listed as a black marble. That classification is also correct in planning terms, because the material is perceived through its surface, its capacity to take a polish and its typical interior applications. Anyone looking for a deep dark material with a classic marble character gets a calmer alternative here to strikingly veined black marbles.

Finishes

Konya Black is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Poliert

Konya Black should be sealed carefully on vanity tops, floors and decorative working surfaces. Dark marble surfaces in particular react sensitively to limescale, acids and residues of care products.

For cleaning and care, only pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, clear water and soft cloths are suitable. On polished dark surfaces, limescale, soap, cosmetics and acidic foods should not be allowed to dry on.

Avoid vinegar cleaners, descalers, chlorine-based bathroom cleaners and abrasive pads. A black marble can only be cleaned and cared for well in the long term if the surface is treated gently.

In wet areas, clean and care for it regularly, squeegee off water residues and renew the sealer at sensible intervals. That way the dark surface stays considerably calmer.

Frequently asked questions

Is Konya Black suitable for the kitchen?

For carefully used kitchens, Konya Black can be used, but it remains an acid-sensitive black marble. For hard everyday kitchen use, black granites are easier to maintain.

Which surfaces are available for Konya Black?

The surface finishes available in stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.

Where does Konya Black come from?

The stone comes from Turkey. On the market it is listed as a calm black marble with a dense surface.

How do I clean Konya Black correctly?

For cleaning and care, use only pH-neutral natural stone cleaners and soft cloths. Acidic household cleaners are unsuitable for this marble.

Is Konya Black frost-resistant?

The strongest applications lie clearly indoors. Glossy external surfaces are not a good permanent solution with Konya Black.

Konya Black or Nero Marquina?

Nero Marquina usually works more distinctly with white veining. Konya Black often appears calmer, more compact and lower in contrast.
