About Blue Jeans
Blue Jeans does not carry its name by chance. The colouring genuinely recalls dark denim: blue, grey-blue, in places almost black, plus white and silvery-grey veins. That makes the stone very distinctive. Unlike royal-blue sodalite stones, Blue Jeans appears softer, more textile and more domestic. In bathrooms, fireplace claddings, wall panels or as a statement vanity top in particular, this creates an extraordinary but not garish effect.
The stone comes from Turkey, from the Narman area in the province of Erzurum. Petrographically it is described as a listvenite, but in the market it is usually handled like a blue marble. That trade logic is close to practice, because the look, the field of use and the care behaviour correspond more to the marble side than to a classic granite. Compared with Fior di Bosco, Blue Jeans is considerably bluer; against Sodalite it is much softer and far less jewel-like. Anyone looking for a blue natural stone surface with character, but without a gemstone look, will find something distinctive here.
A bulk density of around 2,850 kg/m³ is documented. At the same time the stone is regarded as acid-sensitive, the polish is not permanent outdoors, and its sensible use lies clearly indoors. For the material class of blue marbles, or decorative carbonate stones, compressive strengths of around 118 MPa, flexural strengths of around 15 MPa and water absorption of around 0.16 % are typical orders of magnitude. That is quite sufficient for interior architecture, but it does not make Blue Jeans a trouble-free kitchen or exterior stone.

As a blue carbonate decorative stone, Blue Jeans should be sealed consistently. That makes cleaning and care easier and reduces water and dye marks on the dark surface.
For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners and soft cloths are suitable. Acidic cleaners, descalers and aggressive bathroom chemicals are to be avoided, because they can attack the surface chemically.
Blue Jeans is intended for interior use. On kitchen surfaces, lemon, wine, vinegar and oily foods should not be left to act for long. The same applies in bathrooms to cosmetics and hair care products.
Regular re-sealing and gentle routine cleaning help to preserve the character of the stone in the long term.
