About New Port Saint Laurent

New Port Saint Laurent is one of those dark marbles that immediately create a mood in a room. The stone combines black, dark brown, gold, white and fine warm veins into a picture that looks elegant, luxurious and very architectural. In bathrooms, wall surfaces, fireplace claddings or dark kitchen islands in particular, this material language can be enormously strong.

The stone comes from Morocco, from the Biougra area south-east of Agadir. Petrographically it is a limestone; in trade, however, New Port Saint Laurent is clearly carried as a marble. That fits its actual use: a decorative interior stone with a high-quality polish and a distinct pattern.

Finishes

New Port Saint Laurent is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

Polishing is the most classic finish for marble and limestone — a glossy surface with the highest possible colour intensity and a pronounced depth to the veining. Depending on the mineral composition, the effect can be matte-gloss in places. Acid-sensitive — wine, lemon and vinegar leave etch marks after prolonged contact.

Care & fabrication

As a dark marble, New Port Saint Laurent should always be impregnated well. For cleaning and care, only pH-neutral marble cleaners, water and a soft cloth are suitable. Acidic cleaners, limescale removers, vinegar and lemon juice must be avoided. On dark surfaces in particular, limescale, soap residues and water marks should be removed regularly.

Frequently asked questions

Is New Port Saint Laurent suitable for the kitchen?

Only with restrictions. As a limestone marble, the material is more sensitive to acid and to mistakes in care than granite or quartzite.

Which finishes are there for New Port Saint Laurent?

The surface finishes available from stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.

Where does New Port Saint Laurent come from?

The stone comes from Morocco, from the Biougra area near Agadir.

How do I care for New Port Saint Laurent?

For cleaning and care you need a good impregnation, neutral cleaners and consistent protection against acids.

New Port Saint Laurent or Portoro?

Portoro often looks even more dramatic and richer in gold; New Port Saint Laurent somewhat calmer and more modern.

What does New Port Saint Laurent cost?

The price depends on the batch, thickness, surface finish and fabrication — with natural stone there is no serious flat rate per square metre. Business customers see prices once their B2B account is activated; private customers receive a complete quote through a fabricator near them.
