About Labrador Scuro Speziale

Labrador Scuro Speziale is not a quiet dark granite but a stone with a visual life of its own. The material shows a dark grey to grey-green base appearance in which individual feldspar crystals shimmer blue-green to steel blue. It is this labradorescence that has made the stone so well known worldwide. Depending on the light, the surface appears restrained and dark or suddenly lively and metallic. On worktops, façades, stairs and wall surfaces in particular this produces an effect that only a few natural stones deliver.

Finishes

Labrador Scuro Speziale is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

Polishing is the most classic finish in the hard stone segment — a mirror-smooth, high-gloss surface with the highest possible colour intensity and maximum depth effect in the mineral structure. As an acid-resistant silicate stone, polished granite is easy to care for and the first choice for kitchen worktops, wall claddings and prestigious exposed surfaces.

Care & fabrication

Labrador Scuro Speziale should be sealed after installation, particularly on kitchen worktops and dark floor areas. At 0.2 % water absorption the stone is dense, but the sealer makes cleaning and care easier still.

For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, water and a soft microfibre cloth are sufficient. On polished surfaces, water and limescale marks should not be allowed to dry on, so that the shimmer effect stays clear.

Avoid strongly abrasive pads and aggressive special cleaners without approval for natural stone. Oil, coffee and colouring agents should be removed promptly from worktops, even though the stone is technically very robust.

Outdoors, regular cleaning, a suitable choice of finish and clean drainage all help. The weather is not the problem; soiled textured surfaces that visually swallow the shimmer are.
