Green Pearl

Green Pearl is a dark green Norwegian hard stone with shimmering blue and silvery crystals and is listed in the trade as a granite. At ROSSITTIS we currently carry it as a flamed-and-brushed terrace slab for striking external surfaces.

About Green Pearl

Green Pearl is one of those stones that actively take light into account. The base colour is dark green to almost black, joined by iridescent labradoritic crystals in blue, silver and partly slightly golden reflections. That means the stone never reads as flat. On larger external surfaces, podiums or steps in particular, a very distinctive, almost metallic character emerges. Compared with even dark granites, Green Pearl is considerably livelier, but it stays more massive and more technical than many decorative marbles.

Finishes

Green Pearl is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Flamed + brushed once

The surface is roughened by heat and brushed once to smooth sharp-edged mineral residues and remove loose material. The feel is somewhat gentler than purely flamed, it remains slip-resistant, and the colour is less intense than polished. The standard choice for outdoor areas, terraces and heavily used floor areas.

Care & fabrication

Green Pearl should be sealed even as an external slab, so that water, dirt and organic residues adhere less easily. On dark surfaces that supports a more even effect.

For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, water and — on textured surfaces — soft brushes are suitable. On dark terrace slabs, leaves, dust and limescale residues should be removed regularly.

Avoid aggressive descalers, care products that build up a heavy film, and coarse abrasives. Even a very robust Labrador stone can be cleaned and cared for better if the surface is not put under unnecessary strain.

Outdoors, clean and care for it regularly, especially in the joint and texture zones. The sealer should be renewed at sensible intervals depending on use and weather exposure.

Frequently asked questions

Is Green Pearl suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. With around 2,700 kg/m³ bulk density, 0.18 to 0.33 % water absorption, 185 MPa compressive strength and confirmed frost resistance, Green Pearl is very well suited to external surfaces.

Which surfaces are available for Green Pearl?

The surface finishes available in stock are listed in the »Finishes« block on this page.

Where does Green Pearl come from?

The stone comes from Norway, from the Larvik area in Vestfold. That is where the well-known deposits of the Norwegian Labrador stones lie.

How do I clean Green Pearl correctly?

For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, water and soft brushes or cloths are sufficient. On dark external surfaces, limescale and organic growth should be removed regularly.

Is Green Pearl really a granite?

Geologically the material sits within the range of larvikitic syenites. In the natural stone trade it is listed as a granite because of its technical properties and typical applications.

Green Pearl or Bahama Blue?

Bahama Blue appears bluer-grey and finer-grained. Green Pearl is darker, greener and lives considerably more strongly from its iridescent crystals.

What does Green Pearl cost?

The price depends on the batch, thickness, surface finish and fabrication — with natural stone there is no serious flat rate per square metre. Business customers see prices once their B2B account is activated; private customers receive a complete quote through a fabricator near them.
