About Cafe Imperial Extra
Cafe Imperial Extra is one of the darker, warm hard rocks in the range. The ground colour moves between espresso, dark brown and anthracite, together with black, grey and golden inclusions that give the surface depth and metallic tension. Unlike homogeneous black stones, Cafe Imperial never appears severe or neutral. It brings warmth with it, but remains markedly more robust than many brown marbles.
Petrographically it is a syenite from Brazil, but in the trade the material is carried like a granite. That is understandable, because its properties point clearly towards a resilient hard stone. With a bulk density of around 2,798 kg/m³, water absorption of about 0.16 to 0.47 per cent, compressive strength of around 114.8 MPa and flexural strength of about 15.3 MPa, Cafe Imperial Extra is very well positioned for heavily used surfaces. Frost resistance is likewise documented.
In everyday use the stone plays to its strength wherever warmth and resilience are to come together. Kitchen worktops, stairs, floors, façades or window sills are typical fields of application. Polished surfaces work very well indoors, and outdoors too the material remains resilient. At ROSSITTIS, Cafe Imperial Extra is available as an unsized slab, tile, kitchen worktop, window sill, stair tread, skirting and for further made-to-measure components.
In design terms the stone suits dark timber, bronze, brass and warm natural tones. Compared with Nero Assoluto it appears livelier and warmer; compared with brown marbles, markedly more fit for everyday use. That is precisely where its appeal lies: prestigious, but not delicate.
The honest assessment: Cafe Imperial Extra is not a quiet minimalist. The crystal structure remains visible and makes the surface lively. Anyone looking for absolute homogeneity should reach rather for a more uniformly coloured hard stone.

Technical data
Guide values for the stone type, taken from manufacturer and test reports. Natural stone is a natural product — individual batches and slabs can differ. For critical applications, request slab-specific test data.
Cafe Imperial Extra is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.
Poliert
Cafe Imperial Extra takes a sealer well, even though its water absorption is already comparatively low. On kitchen worktops and other intensively used surfaces we nevertheless recommend proper sealing.
For cleaning and maintenance, pH-neutral stone cleaners, water and a soft cloth are suitable. Oil films and limescale should be removed regularly, so that the dark surface does not appear dull.
You should avoid strongly degreasing household chemicals and unnecessarily aggressive deep cleaners. What matters is regular cleaning and maintenance with products suitable for natural stone.
Outdoors the stone is robust and frost-resistant. There, the right choice of finish matters more than excessive chemical maintenance effort.
Frequently asked questions
Is Cafe Imperial Extra suitable for a kitchen?
Yes. The stone is very well suited to kitchen worktops and markedly less delicate than brown marbles.
Is Cafe Imperial Extra really a granite?
Petrographically it is a syenite. In the trade, however, the material is carried as a granite on account of its performance in use and its hardness.
How do I clean and care for Cafe Imperial Extra?
For cleaning and maintenance, mild stone cleaners and a soft cloth are sufficient. A sealer makes sense for worktops and heavily used surfaces.
Is Cafe Imperial Extra frost-proof?
Yes, frost resistance is documented. That is why the stone is also of interest for suitable external applications.
Where does Cafe Imperial Extra come from?
The stone comes from Brazil. Deposits are cited in Minas Gerais, among other places.
Cafe Imperial Extra or Brown Antique?
Cafe Imperial appears more crystalline and quieter, Brown Antique often more dramatic and more relief-like. Technically both lie within the range of resilient hard rocks.
