About Lumix

Lumix belongs to the light quartzites that work less through strong veining than through inner depth. The stone shows white, ivory and delicate grey tones in a crystalline structure. This makes it appear brighter and airier than many beige quartzites, while at the same time being more substantial than white marble. It is precisely this balance that makes it interesting in kitchens and prestigious interiors.

The stone originates from Brazil. Petrographically it is described as vein quartz, or a quartzitic hard rock, and is listed in the trade as a quartzite. For planners that is relevant, because Lumix thereby sets itself clearly apart from calcareous marble: it is considerably less sensitive to acid and more robust in use, while remaining visually elegant.

Finishes

Lumix is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

Polishing is the most classic finish for quartzite — a glossy surface with the highest possible colour intensity and a pronounced sense of depth. Depending on the mineral composition, the effect can be satin-gloss in places. As a silicate rock it is fully acid-resistant and scratch-hard — ideal for kitchen worktops and feature surfaces.

Care & fabrication

Lumix should be professionally impregnated in kitchens and bathrooms, even though the stone is very dense at around 0.076 % water absorption. For cleaning and care, pH-neutral natural stone cleaners, water and a soft cloth are recommended. Coffee, oil and limescale should be removed regularly so that the light surface stays clear. Avoid strong abrasive agents and unnecessary impact loading on edges and cut-outs.
