Palissandro Classico Extra is an Italian marble with a light grey to cream-coloured base and flowing bands in blue, taupe and brown tones. At ROSSITTIS it is used for high-quality wall surfaces, bathrooms, washstands and selected interior fit-outs, where an elegant natural stone with movement is wanted.

About Palissandro Classico Extra

Palissandro Classico Extra belongs to those marbles that work not through contrast but through flow. Light grey, cream and ivory tones are run through with elongated bands, partly blue-grey, partly brownish. This produces a very elegant, linear movement that is particularly strong on large-format wall surfaces and in book-matched compositions. Against white marbles, Palissandro is warmer and softer; against heavily veined luxury marbles it is considerably more cultivated.

The stone comes from Crevoladossola near Domodossola in Piedmont and belongs to a well-known Italian marble family. Typical is the directional, band-like pattern. It is precisely this structure that makes the selection of slabs and the direction of laying so important. Cut across the grain, an entirely different impression arises than when run lengthwise. For specifiers and stonemasons, Palissandro is therefore less a standard material than a stone that wants to be deliberately composed.

Finishes

Palissandro Classico Extra is available in a range of finishes. The finish affects appearance, feel and the care it needs.

Polished

Polishing is the most classic finish for marble and limestone — a glossy surface with the highest possible colour intensity and a pronounced depth to the veining. Depending on the mineral composition, the effect can be matte-gloss in places. Acid-sensitive — wine, lemon and vinegar leave etch marks after prolonged contact.

Care & fabrication

Palissandro Classico Extra should be impregnated after installation, above all on washstands, floors and other horizontal surfaces. Water absorption is relatively low at around 0.15 %, but as a marble the material remains acid-sensitive.

For cleaning and care, use pH-neutral natural stone cleaners and soft cloths. Acidic bathroom and kitchen cleaners, descalers or vinegar cleaners are unsuitable.

Cosmetics, soap, wine, citrus products and other acidic substances should be removed promptly. Otherwise matt patches can quickly become visible on polished surfaces.

For outdoor areas, restraint is advisable. The material can survive frost, but the polish does not stay beautiful there as durably as indoors.
